This term will expire on October 1, 1992. <br /> <br />PRESENTATION: TERRY HOLLAND DAY <br /> <br /> On motion by Mr. Towe, seconded by Mr. Buck, Council <br />unanimously proclaimed March 1st as Terry Holland Day in <br />Charlottesville. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Terry Holland, the winningest coach in the <br />history of University of Virginia basketball, will be leaving <br />Charlottesville after 16 seasons to become Athletic Director <br />at Davidson College; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Terry Holland has left an indelible mark of <br />success in Charlottesville by guiding the University of <br />Virginia to post-season play 12 times, including two NCAA <br />final appearances and an NIT championship) and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Terry Holland's teams have been known for their <br />solid defense and teamwork as well-as their scholastic <br />achievements; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Terry, his wife, Ann, and daughters, Kate and <br />Ann-Michael, will be missed by'the entire Charlottesville <br />community) <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of <br />Charlottesville, Virginia, does hereby proclaim March 1, 1990 <br />as TERRY HOLLAND DAY and urges all citizens to join in <br />recognizing Terry for his many accomplishments and thanking <br />him for establishing the University of Virginia as one of the <br />top college basketball programs in the country. We thank the <br />entire Holland family~ for their many contributions to the <br />community and wish them happiness and success. <br /> <br />PRESENTATION: ~CHARLOTTESVILLE HOUSING FOUNDATION <br /> <br /> Mr. Francis Fife, Vice President and Executive Director <br />of the Charlottesville Housing Foundation, requested that the <br />City join in partnership with the Foundation to increase home <br />ownership for low and moderate income persons. Mr. Fife <br />stated that the Foundation has received a construction grant <br />of $450,000 which required matching funding. Mr. Fife <br />requested that the City provide $10,000 per unit, up to ten <br />units now, and $10,000 per unit for an additional twenty <br />units over ~the next two years. Mr. Fife explained deferred <br />loans for the downpayment would be offered, due upon resale <br />of the house. <br /> <br /> Responding to a question from Mr. Vandever, Mr. Fife <br />stated that it would be beneficial if the City donated <br />property to the Foundation. <br /> <br /> Mr. Buck recommended that the request be taken up during <br />the budget cycle and requested that the staff provide a <br />report on the request. <br /> <br />The matter was carried over to the next meeting. <br /> <br />PRESENTATION: <br /> <br />PERSONS <br /> <br />SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT COS~ISSION - NEEDS OF DISABLED <br /> <br />Mr. Steven Stern, Social Development Commission member, <br /> <br /> <br />
