Mr. Hendrix explained that <br />certain positions will need to be refilled and therefore <br />vacancies in other areas of the City will need to be created. <br /> <br /> Ms. Slaughter stated that it was important to continue <br />to emphasize the City's affirmative action goals during the <br />downsizing process. <br /> <br /> Mr. Toscano asked for'information regarding the number <br />of persons eligible in each employee category. <br /> <br /> On motion by Mr. Toscano, seconded by Ms. Slaughter, the <br />ordinance entitled "AN ORDINANCE TO ADD SECTION 19-95.1 TO <br />CHAPTER 19 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE, 1990, <br />AS AMENDED, RELATED TO EARLY RETIREMENT OPTIONS" was offered <br />and carried over to the next meeting for consideration. <br /> <br />ORDINANCE: APPROVING QUITCLAIM DEED FOR GAS LINES IN MILL CREEK <br /> <br /> Mr. Hendrix explained that gas lines had been installed <br />in Albemarle County and the resolution would deed the <br />easements to the Virginia Department of Transportation. <br /> <br /> On .~otion by Ms. Waters, seconded by Mr. Toscano, the <br />ordinance entitled "AN ORDINANCE TO QUITCLAIM NATURAL GAS <br />LINES LOCATED IN THE MILL CREEK SUBDIVISION TO THE VIRGINIA <br />DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION" was offered and carried over to <br />the next meeting for consideration. <br /> <br />PUBLIC <br /> <br />There were no matters by the public. <br /> <br />OTHER BUSINESS <br /> <br /> Ms. Slaughter made a motion to approve a resolution <br />endorsing the Brady bill, which would require a seven day <br />waiting period before a gun can be purchased, and requested <br />that the Mayor send a letter supporting the bill to the <br />legislators. Mr. Toscano seconded the motion. <br /> <br /> Ms. Waters stated that she felt the issue was important <br />and could contribute to efforts at the local level. <br /> <br /> The resolution endorsing the Brady bill was approved by <br />Council, with Rev.
