Edwards and Ms. Waters <br /> absent. <br /> <br />ORDINANCE: ADOPTING LAND USE PLAN AMENDMENT (2nd reading) <br /> <br /> Mr. Vandever expressed concern that park land is not <br />designated separately. <br /> <br /> Mr. Satyendra Huja, Director of Community Development, <br />explained that parks are designated separately on the Land <br />Use Plan and the Planning Commission is in the process of <br />changing the zoning map and creating a new categorY. <br /> <br /> Responding to a question from Ms. SlaUghter, Mr. Huja <br />stated that the changing the zoning map for parks will be <br />considered by the Planning Commission in August, but not all <br />property in the flood plain could be included since it is not <br />all publicly owned. <br /> <br /> The ordinance adopting the Land Use Plan Amendment, <br /> dated May 20, 1991, which was offered at the May 20th <br /> meeting, was approved by the following vote. Ayes: Ms. <br /> Slaughter, Mr. Toscano, Mr. Vandever. Noes: None. Absent: <br /> Rev. Edwards and Ms. Waters. <br /> <br />ORDINANCE: ADOPTING ZONING ORDINANCE TEXT AMENDMENT AND AMENDMENT <br />TO SUBDIVISION ORDINANCE (2nd reading) <br /> <br /> Mr. Toscano expressed concern that three recent <br />proposals to address the issue of affordable rental housing - <br />Long Street, Monticello Vista and King Street, have met <br />opposition from neighborhoods. Mr. Toscano stated that since <br />the R-lA zoning might take some potential units out of the <br />rental market he hoped that the community will think of <br />alternative ways to provide affordable housing. Mr. Toscano <br />added that he did not think that the ordinance was <br />anti-renter. <br /> <br /> Ms. Slaughter stated that she felt it was important to <br />keep in mind that the number of existing units was not being <br />reduced but that single family~units would be stabilized~by <br /> <br /> <br />
