Edwards, Ms. Slaughter, Mr. Toscano, <br />Mr. Vandever, Ms. Waters. <br /> <br />MINUTES <br /> <br /> On motion by Mr. Vandever, seconded by Ms. Waters, the <br /> minutes of the July let meeting were aPproved-as presented, <br /> with Ms. Slaughter abstaining. <br /> <br /> On motion by Mr. Vandever, seconded by Ms. Slaughter, <br /> the minutes of the July 15th meeting were unanimously <br /> approved as presented. <br /> <br /> On motiOn by Mr. Vandever,-'Seconded by Mr. Toscano, the <br /> minutes of the July 24th meeting were approved as presented. <br /> <br />PUBLIC <br /> <br /> There Were no mat'~ers by the public <br /> <br />RESOLUTION: APPROVING oUTDOOR CAFE FOR CHUBBY'S RESTAURANT <br /> <br /> Mr. Hendrix stated that the Mayor had requested that <br />Council reconsider the resolution approving an outdoor cafe <br />for Chubby's Restaurant since an agreement had been worked <br />out between the owners and Charlottesville Downtown <br />Foundation (CDF) not to have the cafe in ~operation during <br />Fridays After Five. Mr. Hendrix noted that'the design of thee <br />cafe has not yet been approved by the Board of Architectural-. <br /> <br /> Rev. Edwards stated that he previously abstained on the <br />matter since the owners and'CDF had not discussed the matter. <br /> <br /> Mr. Toscano recommended that the resolution be amended <br />to restrict the hours the cafe is not in operation onlY to <br />those times when Fridays After Five is in its current <br />locati°n on the west lend of'the mall. - ~ <br /> Ms. Slaughter Stated' that she continued to be concerned <br />about the distance from the kitchen to the cafe and asked if <br />the cafe coul'd be l°cated'~t-o the west ~of ~he Nook Cafe'which <br />would be closer to the building ocCupied by ~hubbY's. <br /> Mr. HuJa-stated ~hat ~he fire lane.~waS inlthe loCation <br />suggested bY MS~ slaughter'and'he was ~unCertain whether it <br />could be relocated. :; <br /> ~ Ms waters added tha~ there are_no trees to the west of <br />the Nook's Cafe which would make' the location less desirable. <br />Ms. Waters stated that she shared the concern about the <br />distance ~f the cafe from the kitchen, b~t had come to the ,. <br />conClusi°n that as long as the cafe is in the same blOck as <br />the restaurant she will support the cafe. Ms. Waters <br />suggested that staff revisit the recommended cafe locations <br />which are currently designated to determine whether any <br />conditions exist which might make some of them unsuitable. <br /> <br /> <br />
