277 <br /> <br /> appropriated to expenditure~account 26-171,121070_52199 for <br /> such purpose. <br /> <br />RESOLUTION: NOMINATING CHARLOTTESVILLE HOUSING FOUNDATION FOR <br />ACHIEVEMENT AWARD <br /> <br /> Mr. Hendrix stated that the resolution, which had been <br />approved by the Albemarle County Board of Supervisors, would <br />nominate the Charlottesville Housing Foundation (CHF) for a <br />housing achievement award. <br /> <br /> Ms. Waters stated that she was pleased to see CHF's <br />newsletter and congratulated them on their impressive year. <br /> <br /> On motion by Mr. Vandever, seconded by Mr. Toscano, the <br />resolution nominating the Charlottesville Housing Foundation <br />for an achievement award was unanimously approved. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Charlottesville Housing Foundation has been <br />instrumental in the provision of affordable housing in the <br />City of Charlottesville and the County of Albemarle; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Housing Foundation has achieved its mission <br />through successful fund-raising, the development of <br />affiliations with other housing providers, as well as the <br />institution of a comprehensive program of initiatives <br />including new construction and rehabilitation, sale and <br />rental opportunities, adaptive reuse of older buildings, <br />loans and grants, client counseling, advocacy, and technical <br />assistance; <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of <br />Charlottesville hereby nominates the Housing Foundation for a <br />1991 Housing Achievement Award. <br /> <br />ORDINANCE: AUTHORIZING SALE OF PROPERTY ON 7TH STREET, N.E <br />(2nd reading) ' <br /> <br /> The ordinance entitled "AN ORDINANCE TO AUTHORIZE THE <br /> CONVEYANCE OF PROPERTY DESIGNATED AS 506 SEVENTH STREET (CITY <br /> TM53-139) TO JOHN A CRUTCHFIELD,. which was offered at the <br /> August 5th meeting, was approved by the following vote. <br /> Ayes: Rev. Edwards, Mr. Toscano, Mr. Vandever, Ms. Waters. <br /> Noes: None. Absent: Ms. Slaughter. <br /> <br />ORDINANCE: AMENDING ORDINANCE TO REFLECT CURRENT BUS FARES <br /> <br /> Mr. Hendrix explained that the ordinance was a <br /> housekeeping matter to make the language in the ordinance <br /> consistent with current bus fares since the change was not <br /> made in the ordinance at the time of the fare increase. <br /> <br /> On motion by Ms. Waters, seconded by Mr. Toscano, the <br /> ordinance entitled "AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND AND REORDAIN <br /> SECTION 32-7 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE, <br /> 1990, AS AMENDED, RELATED TO CITY TRANSIT FARES, was offered <br /> and carried over to the next meeting for consideration. <br /> <br />PUBLIC <br /> <br /> Col. Carroll Smith stated that his water meter cover ~had <br />been stolen on three separate occasions-and requested that <br />the City take appropriate action to caution citizens about <br />the danger to pedestrians and to investigate the matter <br />further. <br /> <br /> Ms. Waters announced to the public that a vacancy exists <br />on the Planning Commission and encouraged interested citizens <br />to apply. <br /> <br /> Mr. Vandever asked staff to provide Council with a <br />report on the M. O. Mohr Center and the impact on its former <br />clients since~the program is now operated as a detoxification <br /> <br /> <br />
