Absent: Mr. <br /> <br />ORDINANCE: RELATING TO MINIMUM LENGTH OF PARKING SPACES <br />(2nd reading) <br /> <br /> The ordinance entitled AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND AND <br />REORDAIN SECTION 31-159 OF THE CITY CODE OF THE CITY OF <br />CHARLOTTESVILLE, 1976, AS AMENDED, RELATING TO THE MINIMUM <br />LENGTH OF PARKING SPACES" which was offered at the March 7th <br />meeting, was approved by the following vote. Ayes: Mr. <br />Barnes, Mr. Buck~ Mrs° Gleason, Dr. Hall. Noes: None. <br />Absent: Mr. Towe. <br /> <br />ORDINANCE: <br /> <br />PROPERTY <br /> <br />REMOVAL OF INOPERATIVE MOTOR VEHICLES FROM PRIVATE <br /> <br /> Mr. Gouldman stated that most business which would be <br />affected by the proposed ordinance are within B-3 zones and <br />the ordinance would grandfather those businesses in <br />operation prior to 1970. <br /> <br /> Mr. Buck recommended that grandfathering be applied to <br />land use and not the business license date. <br /> <br /> On motion by Mrs° Gleason, seconded by Dr. Hall, the <br />ordinance entitled "AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND AND REORDAIN <br />SECTION 16-8 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE, <br />VIRGINIA TO STRENGTHEN THE ABILITY OF THE CITY TO REMOVE <br />INOPERATIVE MOTOR VEHICLES FROM PROHIBITED ZONING DISTRICTS" <br />was offered and carried over to the next meeting for <br />consideration. <br /> <br />ORDINANCE: PROVIDING FOR REMOVAL, REPAIR AND SECURING OF UNSAFE <br />BUILDINGS (2nd reading) <br /> <br /> Mr° Gouldman stated that housekeeping and clarification <br />changes had been made in the proposed ordinance since the <br />first reading. <br /> <br /> On motion by Mr. Barnes, seconded by Mrs. Gleason, the <br />ordinance was amended as recommended by Mr. Gouldman. <br /> <br /> The ordinance entitled "AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND CHAPTER 5 <br />OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE, TO AMEND SECTION <br />5-14 FOR HOUSEKEEPING PURPOSES AND TO ADD A NEW ARTICLE VII <br />TO PROVIDE FOR THE REMOVAL, REPAIR OR SECURING OF UNSAFE <br />BUILDINGS," as amended, which was offered at the March 7th <br />meeting, was approved by the following vote. Ayes: Mr. <br />Barnes, Mr. Buck, Mrs. Gleason, Dr. Hall. Noes: None. <br />Absent: Mr. Towe. <br /> <br />PUBLIC <br /> <br />There were no matters by the public. <br /> <br />OTHER BUSINESS <br /> <br /> Mr. Hendrix requested that Council approve a resolUtion <br /> authorizing the Mayor to sign an easement for Virginia Power <br /> at Buford Middle School. <br /> <br /> On motion by Dr. Hall, seconded by Mrs. Gleason, <br />Council unanimously voted, with Mr. Towe absent, to <br />authorize the Mayor to sign an easement for Virginia Power <br />at Buford Middle School. <br /> <br /> BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of <br />Charlottesville, that the Mayor is hereby authorized to <br />execute on behalf of the City the following document, in form <br />approved by the City Attorney: <br /> <br />Easement and right of way to Virginia Power for <br /> <br /> <br />
