88 <br /> <br />relocation of utilities in connection with <br />Buford Middle School construction. <br /> <br /> A copy of such document shall be kept on file with the <br />minutes of the Council meeting at which this resolution was <br />adopted. <br /> <br /> meeting was <br /> <br />President <br /> <br /> On motion by Mrs. Gleason, seconded by Dr. Hall, <br />Council voted to meet in executive session to discuss <br />personnel matters and acquisition of property as exempted by <br />Section 2.1-344(a)(1) and (2) of the Virginia Freedom of <br />Information Act, with Mr. Barnes abstaining and Mr. Towe <br /> <br />adjourned. <br /> <br />NOTICE OF SPECIAL'MEETING <br /> <br />A SPECIAL MEETING OF THE COUNCIL WILL BE HELD ON Wednesday, <br />March 30, 1988 AT 7:00 p.m. IN THE Basement Conference Room. <br /> <br />THE PROPOSED AGENDA IS AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />Agency hearings <br /> <br />Work session on City Manager's Proposed FY 88-89 Budget <br /> <br />Executive session to discuss personnel matters and <br />acquisition of property as exempted by Section 2.1-344 <br />(a)(1) and (2) of the Virginia Freedom of Information <br />Act <br /> <br />BY ORDER OF THE MAYOR <br /> <br />BY Jeanne Cox (signed) <br /> <br />BASEMENT CONFERENCE ROOM - March 30, 1988 <br /> <br /> Council met in special session on this date with the <br />following members present: Mr. Barnes, Mr. Buck, Mrs. <br />Gleason, Dr. Hall, Mr. Towe. <br /> <br /> Dr. Susan McLeod, Director of the Thomas Jefferson <br />Health Department, listed the following services and <br />percentage of City residents using those services: <br />environmental health - 16%; dental health - 48%; and <br />medical/nursing - 54%. Dr. McLeod stated that if full <br />finding is not received from the City, one nursing position <br />will be cut back. <br /> <br /> Mr. Glen Jessie, Director of the AIDS Support Group, <br />stated that the organization is two years old, has 70 <br />volunteers/members, and serves 24 persons with AIDS by <br />providing emotional support to both AIDS victims and <br />their families, helping with hygiene, and helping locate <br />housing. Mr. Jessie stated that the AIDS. Support Group <br />works closely with the Health Department, MACAA, and the <br />Hospice of the Piedmont. Mr. Jessie stated that the Group <br />is in the process of soliciting private and State grants and <br />that the CDBG funds would be used to hire a part-time <br />volunteer coordinator. Mr. Jessie stated that this is a <br />one-time request for CDBG funds. <br /> <br /> Ms. Rebecca Reeve, Training Director of the AIDS <br />Support Group, stated that the Group deals with the psycho- <br />social issues of AIDS and provides case management services. <br />Ms. Reeve stated that the Group does not duplicate Health <br />Department services. <br /> <br /> <br />
