• AN ORDINANCE CLOSING, VACATING AND DISCONTINUING TWO ALLEYS IN THE GARRETT STREET RENEWAL PROJECT KNOWN AS JESSUP'S ALLEY AND CONWAY'S ALLEY IN THE CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE WHEREAS, proper notice that the Charlottesville Redevelopment and Housing Authority would make application to the City Council of the City of Charlottesville, Virginia, to have the hereinafter described alleys closed, vacated and discontinued was duly posted; and WHEREAS, all the owners abutting said alleys have been duly notified; TTM WHEREAS, application was made to the City Council and pursuant to the statutes in such cases made and provided, the Council appointed viewers who have reported to Council the results of such closing, vacation and discontinuance; and WHEREAS, it is the judgment of the Council that said alleys should be closed, vacated and discontinued, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Charlottesville, Virginia, that the said alleys located in the City of Charlottes- ville, Virginia, described as follows are hereby closed, vacated and discontinued as a public thoroughfare of the City of Charlottesville, Virginia, said alleys not being needed for public use and travel: (A) That certain alley approximately 10 feet in width running in a northwesterly direction from 6th Street, S. E. approximately 360 feet in a direction perpendicular to Ware Street including that portion of the alley approximately 280 feet from 6th Street running 80 feet in a southwesterly direction. The alley requested to be closed is commonly known as Jessup's Alley. (B) That certain alley approximately 10 feet in width running in a northwesterly direction from 6th Street, S. E. approximately 240 feet in a direction perpendicular to Ware Street and then running in a southwesterly direction for approximately 230 feet. The alley requested to be closed is commonly known as Conway's Alley. The City of Charlottesville hereby reserves an easement to maintain • and repair an existing gas and water main located in Jessup's Alley, ten feet in either direction from the center line of said utilities.
