• AN ORDINANCE <br />CLOSING, VACATING AND DISCONTINUING <br />TWO ALLEYS IN THE <br />GARRETT STREET RENEWAL PROJECT KNOWN AS <br />JESSUP'S ALLEY AND CONWAY'S ALLEY <br />IN THE CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE <br />WHEREAS, proper notice that the Charlottesville Redevelopment and <br />Housing Authority would make application to the City Council of the City of <br />Charlottesville, Virginia, to have the hereinafter described alleys closed, <br />vacated and discontinued was duly posted; and <br />WHEREAS, all the owners abutting said alleys have been duly notified; <br />TTM <br />WHEREAS, application was made to the City Council and pursuant to <br />the statutes in such cases made and provided, the Council appointed viewers <br />who have reported to Council the results of such closing, vacation and <br />discontinuance; and <br />WHEREAS, it is the judgment of the Council that said alleys should be <br />closed, vacated and discontinued, <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of <br />Charlottesville, Virginia, that the said alleys located in the City of Charlottes- <br />ville, Virginia, described as follows are hereby closed, vacated and <br />discontinued as a public thoroughfare of the City of Charlottesville, Virginia, <br />said alleys not being needed for public use and travel: <br />(A) That certain alley approximately 10 feet in width running in <br />a northwesterly direction from 6th Street, S. E. approximately 360 <br />feet in a direction perpendicular to Ware Street including that <br />portion of the alley approximately 280 feet from 6th Street running <br />80 feet in a southwesterly direction. The alley requested to be <br />closed is commonly known as Jessup's Alley. <br />(B) That certain alley approximately 10 feet in width running in <br />a northwesterly direction from 6th Street, S. E. approximately 240 <br />feet in a direction perpendicular to Ware Street and then running <br />in a southwesterly direction for approximately 230 feet. The <br />alley requested to be closed is commonly known as Conway's <br />Alley. <br />The City of Charlottesville hereby reserves an easement to maintain <br />• and repair an existing gas and water main located in Jessup's Alley, ten feet <br />in either direction from the center line of said utilities. <br />
