SECTION 24-13. Restriction on usage of sanitary sewers. <br />The discharge of industrial waste into the city sanitary sewer system <br />• will be permitted provided that: <br />(a) Sewer capacity is available on a basis compatible with the best <br />overall use of the sewer. <br />(b) The waste to be discharged is amenable to treatment by the <br />processes employed in the waste treatment plants of the Rivanna Water and <br />Sewer Authority. <br />(c) The waste to be discharged will not cause damage or constitute <br />a hazard to the sanitary sewer system or waste treatment facilities and <br />will not constitute a hazard to humans or animals, nor be capable of <br />creating a public nuisance. <br />(d) The concentration of substances, compounds, and elements in the <br />waste being discharged or proposed to be discharged do not exceed the <br />limits established by this article. <br />(e) All other requirements of this article are complied with, <br />including the obtaining of a permit as required by 524-19. <br />SECTION 24-14. Substances not to be deposited in sanitary sewer <br />is <br />system. <br />No person shall cause to be discharged or deposited any of the <br />following into any sewer forming a part of the sanitary sewer system of the <br />city: <br />(a) Any waste, liquid, or vapor having a temperature higher than 150 <br />degrees Farenheit. <br />(b) Any water or waste containing more than 100 parts per million of <br />fat, oil, or grease, exclusive of soap. <br />(c) Any gasoline, benzene, naphtha or other hydrocarbon solvents or <br />oils, or other flammable or explosive liquids, solids or gases. <br />(d) Any solid waste in excess of concentrations present in normal <br />domestic sewage that has not been properly shredded. <br />(e) Any ashes, cinders, sand, mud, straw, shavings, lint, glass, <br />rags, metals, feathers, tar, plastics, wood, paunch manure, insulation <br />materials, fibers of any kind, stock or poultry feeds, processed grains, <br />viscera or other fleshy particles from processing or packing plants, or <br />any other solid or viscous substance in excess of concentrations present <br />• in normal domestic sewage capable of causing obstruction to flow in sewers <br />or interference with proper operation of waste treatment facilities. <br />
