• AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND CHAPTER 30 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE, 1976, AS AMENDED, BY REPEALING SECTION 30-8 AND ENACTING IN LIEU THEREOF A NEW SECTION NUMBERED 30-8.1 IN ORDER TO RECONSTITUTE THE WELFARE ADVISORY BOARD AS A SOCIAL SERVICES ADVISORY BOARD AS REQUIRED BY STATE LAW. BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Charlottesville: 1. That §30-8 of the Code of the City of Charlottesville, 1976, as amended is hereby repealed. 2. That Chapter 30 of the Code of the City of Charlottesville, 1976, is hereby amended by adding a section numbered 30-8.1 as follows: Section 30-8.1. Social Services Advisory Board. There is hereby created a Social Services Advisory Board for the City which • shall consist of seven members, one of whom shall be a member of the City Council. Of the members first appointed, two shall be appointed for terms of two years, two for terms of three years and two for terms of four years. The term of the City Council member shall be concurrent with his service on the Council. Subsequent appointments shall be for a term of four years each except that appointments to fill vacancies shall be for the unexpired terms. No person shall serve more than two consecutive terms. The Director of Social Services shall be an ex officio member, without vote, of the Social Services Advisory Board. The powers and duties of the Social Services Advisory Board shall be as follows: (1) To interest itself in all matters pertaining to the social welfare of the people of the City. (2) To monitor the formulation and implementation of social welfare programs in the City. (3) To meet with the Director of Social Services at least four times a year for the purpose of making recommendations on policy matters concerning the Department of Social Services. (4) To make an annual report to the City Council, concurrent with the • presentation of the annual budget, concerning the information of the public welfare program.
