• <br />• <br />AN ORDINANCE <br />TO AMEND CHAPTER 2 OF THE <br />CODE OF THE CITY OF CHAROTTESVILLE, 1976, <br />BY ADDING A14 ARTICLE XIX CONTAINING <br />SECTIONS 2-126 THROUGH 2-133, <br />ESTABLISHING THE <br />CHARLOTTESVILLE DEVELOPMENT GROUP. <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Charlottesville: <br />1. That Chapter 2 of the Code of the City of Charlottesville, 1976 <br />be amended by adding an Article XIX containing Sections 2-126 through <br />2-133, as follows: <br />ARTICLE XIX <br />CHARLOTTESVILLE DEVELOPMENT GROUP <br />Section 2-126. Purpose. <br />There is hereby created and established a group to be designated <br />the Charlottesville Development Group, whose purpose shall be to <br />advise the City Council on matters related to economic development <br />with the primary objective of expanding the city's economic base <br />and employment opportunities. <br />Section 2-127. Membership, appointment, terms of members, <br />vacancies. <br />The Charlottesville Development Group shall be composed of <br />fifteen members who shall be appointed by the city council. Initial <br />appointments shall be for terms of three years. Thereafter, all <br />appointments shall be for terms of one, two and three years, as <br />designated by council, except for appointments to fill vacancies <br />which shall be for the unexpired remainder of the term; provided <br />the existence of the Group is continued pursuant to section 2-133. <br />No member shall serve for more than two terms, except for members <br />appointed to fill vacancies who may serve for two additional full <br />terms. <br />Section 2-128. Removal of members. <br />Any member of the Charlottesville Development Group may be <br />removed from office by the city council for absence from four <br />or more regularly scheduled meetings in a calendar year or other <br />just cause. <br />Section 2-129. Meetings; quorum. <br />The Charlottesville Development Group shall hold a minimum of <br />
