W <br />• <br />Section 29-1.1. Customer deposits. <br />(a) The director of finance shall require <br />persons or firms applying for water service in <br />the rules established in this section. <br />Pg. 5. <br />sits <br />(b) The normal deposit requirements shall be as follows: <br />(1) Residential accounts $10.00 <br />(2) Non-residential accounts $25.00 <br />(c) The normal deposit requirement will be waived, if <br />(1) The applicant furnishes a letter from anothe <br />gas, water or electric utility with whom he has had service <br />within the past twenty-four months certifying that he has <br />maintained an acceptable credit record; or <br />(2) The director of finance or his designee is able <br />to establish by telephone call to another gas, water or electric <br />utility with which the applicant has had service within the past <br />twenty-four months that the applicant had no terminations for <br />non-payment within the most recent twenty-four months in which <br />• he had service; or <br />(3) The applicant has had city water or gas service <br />at the same or some other address within the past twenty-four <br />months and had no terminations for non-payment within the most <br />recent twenty-four months in which he had service. <br />(d) Any customer who has had service terminated for non- <br />ayment within the preceding twelve month period, or who has had <br />two or more checks returned to the director of finance for <br />insufficient funds within the preceding twenty-four month period, <br />may be required to pay an additional deposit to reinitiate service. <br />Such deposit shall not be greater than the sum of the two highest <br />monthly bills rendered in the past twelve months for service at <br />the location to be served. <br />(e) Any deposit may be applied by the director of finance <br />to any delinquent balance due on the account for which the <br />deposit was made. Beginning March 1, 1982, the director of <br />finance may, and on application from the customer shall, refund <br />• any deposit if the account for which it was made has had no <br />termination for non-payment, and has not had two or more bad <br />checks received in payment, during the preceding twelve months. <br />Likewise, upon voluntary termination of service to an account, <br />the deposit shall first be applied to the balance due and the <br />balance refunded to the customer. <br />
