As Amended on 1st Reading <br />AN ORDINANCE <br />TO AMEND AND REORDAIN SECTIONS 12-3, 12-4, 12-6, <br />• 24-2 AND 29-2 AND TO ADD SECTION 12-4.1 <br />OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE, 1976, <br />RELATING TO CITY GAS, SEWER AND WATER CHARGES. <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Charlottesville, that <br />Sections 12-3, 12-4, 12-6, 24-2 and 29-2 of the Code of the City of <br />Charlottesville, 1976, are hereby amended and reordained and Section <br />12-4.1 is added as follows: <br />Section 12-3. Same - Summer air conditioning. <br />• Gas service under the following rate shall be available to customers <br />who request such service in writing and who have installed and use air <br />condition equipment operated by natural gas as the principal source of <br />energy. The air conditioning rate will be available for bills rendered <br />during the months of June May through October of each year and shall be <br />as follows: <br />(a) Residential. For the first four thousand cubic feet of gas <br />used per month, the charge shall be the sum as set forth under section <br />12-3 of this Code, and for all gas used in excess of four thousand <br />cubic feet per month, the rate shall be fwe-del}ars-and-ninety-ene <br />five dollars and twenty-three cents per one thousand cubic feet. <br />(b) Other. All gas used for summer air conditioning shall be <br />separately metered -and billed at the rate of twe-dellars-and-ainety- <br />ene five dollars and twenty-three cents per one thousand cubic feet. <br />All gas used during billing periods other than June KaX through <br />October of each year shall be at the rates set forth in section 12-3 <br />or 12-6 of this Code as applicable. The city manager may, when he or <br />she deems it impracticable to install a separate meter for air condi- <br />tioning equipment, permit the use of one meter for all gas delivered <br />to the customer, in which instance the director of finance shall estimate <br />the amount of gas for uses other than air conditioning and shall bill <br />for such gas at the rates provided in section 12-3 or 12-6 of this Code <br />as applicable. <br />• (c) Outside-eity:--The-Fate-feF-gas-used-ander-this-seetiom <br />outside-the-eity-shall-be-gFeater-by-tea-pereeat-than-the-rates <br />speeified-ia-subseetieas-fa)-and-fb)-e€-this-seetiea. <br />
