• AN ORDINANCE <br />TO AMEND AND REORDAIN <br />SECTION 28-4 OF THE CODE <br />OF THE CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE, 1976, <br />RELATING TO LOCATION OF CITY UTILITY LINES <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Charlottes- <br />ville, Virginia that Section 28-4 of the Code of the City of <br />Charlottesville, 1976, is amended and reordained as follows: <br />Section 28-4. City utility lines generally. <br />(a) Buildings in relation to sewer, water and gas mains. <br />Buildings shall not be constructed within ten feet of any <br />sewer, water or gas main. However, the director of public <br />works may grant written waivers of this restriction, with re- <br />spect to water and sewer mains, upon a finding that the plans <br />for a proposed building provide adequate safety measures to <br />protect the main during and after construction and adequate <br />access for the city's maintenance, repair or replacement of <br />is <br />the main. <br />(b) Changing of depth of cover over sewer, water or gas <br />mains. The depth of cover over sewer, water or gas mains, <br />shall not be changed without written consent of the director <br />of public works. <br />Approved by Council <br />November 19, 1984 <br />C r 4=w C until <br />84-7-34 <br />
