• AN ORDINANCE <br />TO AMEND SECTION 27-17 OF THE CODE <br />OF THE CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE, 1976, AS AMENDED, <br />RELATING TO THE REQUIREMENT BY THE CITY <br />THAT TAXICAB RATE SCHEDULES BE DISPLAYED. <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Charlottes- <br />ville, Virginia, that Section 27-17 of the Code of the City of <br />Charlottesville, Virginia, 1976, as amended, be amended and <br />reordained as follows: <br />Section 27-17. Display of rates. <br />(a) Cards displaying the rates of fare currently on file <br />with the chief of police for each taxicab shall be posted in a <br />prominent place in that taxicab. Such notice shall state that <br />the drivers may offer to charge less than the amount shown on the <br />meter, but may never charge more than the metered price plus <br />applicable surcharges for night time. <br />(b) In addition, the currently filed rate schedule shall be <br />displayed on both sides of the exterior of every cab in letters <br />at least three inches high, in the form prescribed in section <br />• 27-16.1. <br />(c) As an alternative to exterior postina of rates, rates <br />may be posted on the interior of each rear door window in letters <br />at least one-half inch hiah, in the form prescribed in section 27- <br />16.1, so as to be visible from the outside of the vehicle: <br />provided, however, that any vehicle with rates so posted must be <br />equipped with horizontally and vertically adjustable outside rear <br />view mirrors installed on both sides of such vehicle in such a <br />manner as to provide the driver a rearward view alona both sides <br />of the vehicle for a distance of at least two hundred feet. <br />• <br />Approved by Council <br />January 19, 1988 <br />88-7-2 <br />1 <br />
