• AN ORDINANCE <br />AMENDING CHAPTERS 12, 24 AND 29 OF THE CODE <br />OF THE CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE, 1976, AS AMENDED, <br />BY ADDING SECTION 12-6.1 AND AMENDING SECTIONS 12-3, 12-4, <br />12-5, 12-6, 12-7, 24-2, AND 29-2, <br />RELATING TO CHARGES FOR GAS, WATER AND SEWER SERVICE AND <br />INTERRUPTIBLE TRANSPORTATION SERVICE FOR NATURAL GAS. <br />• <br />• <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of <br />Charlottesville, Virginia, that: <br />1. Sections 12-3, 12-4, 12-5, 12-6, 12-7, 24-2 and 29-2 be <br />amended and reordained, and a new section numbered 12-6.1 be <br />added to the Code of the City of Charlottesville, 1976, as <br />amended, as follows: <br />Sec. 12-3. Rates - Generally. <br />The gas rates based on monthly meter readings shall be as <br />follows: <br />Basic monthly service charge . . . . . . . . . $7.35 <br />First 3,000 cubic feet, per 1,000 cubic feet . . . 6-2468 5.7303 <br />Next 3,000 cubic feet, per 1,000 cubic feet . . . 4-0312 5.3865 <br />Next 144,000 cubic feet, per 1,000 cubic feet. . . 4-4066 4.8135 <br />All over 150,000 cubic feet, per 1,000 cubic feet. 4.3047 4.6988 <br />Sec. 12-4. Same - Summer air conditioning. <br />Gas service under the following rate shall be available to <br />customers who request such service in writing and who have <br />installed and use air conditioning equipment operated by natural <br />gas as the principal source of energy. The air conditioning rate <br />will be available for bills rendered during the months of May <br />through October of each year and shall be as follows: <br />(a) Residential. For the first four thousand cubic feet of <br />gas used per month, the charge shall be the sum as set forth under <br />section 12-3 of this Code, and for all gas used in excess of four <br />thousand cubic feet per month, the rate shall be €ens dollars and <br />fifty eeats $3_70 per thousand cubic feet. <br />(b) Other. All gas used for summer air conditioning shall <br />be separately billed at the rate of €ens dollars and fifty seats <br />$3_70 per one thousand cubic feet. All gas used during billing <br />periods other than May through October of each year shall be at the <br />rates set forth in section 42-3 es 42-6 12-3. 12-6 or 12-6.1 <br />of this Code as applicable. The Director of Finance may, when it <br />is impracticable to install a separate meter for air conditioning <br />equipment, permit the use of one meter for all gas delivered to <br />1 <br />
