• AN ORDINANCE <br />TO AMEND AND REORDAIN SECTION 16-29 OF THE CODE <br />OF THE CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE, 1976, AS AMENDED, <br />TO REQUIRE THE PURCHASE OF CITY LICENSE DECAL <br />PRIOR TO PAYMENT OF FINE FOR SUCH VIOLATION. <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Charlottesville, <br />Virginia, that Section 16-29 of Article III of Chapter 16 of the <br />Code of the City of Charlottesville, 1976, as amended, is hereby <br />amended and reordained as follows: <br />ARTICLE III. STOPPING, STANDING AND PARKING. <br />Section 16-29. Operating or parking vehicle without current <br />city license. <br />It shall be unlawful for any person to operate or park a <br />vehicle required to be licensed by the city on a street, or in a <br />public or privately owned parking garage or parking lot, without <br />displaying therein a current city license sticker as required by <br />article X of chapter 10 of this Code. Any vehicle with Virginia <br />license plates being operated or parked as described herein that <br />• does not display a current, valid license sticker, decal or plate <br />from the City or some other Virginia city, county or town shall be <br />rebuttably presumed to be in violation of this section. A violation <br />Not withstanding any other provision of this Code the Chief <br />of Police is authorized to designate one or more employees of the <br />city treasurer or the commissioner of revenue as special officers, <br />to serve in addition to regular officers for the sole purpose of <br />posting notices of violation on vehicles parked in violation of <br />this section. <br />Approved by Council <br />October 2, 1989 <br />89-7-34 <br />0 <br />
