Prepared 9/28/89 <br />• AN ORDINANCE <br />TO AMEND AND REORDAIN SECTION 16-9.1 OF CHAPTER 16 <br />OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE, 1976, <br />AS AMENDED, RELATING TO TRUCK TRAFFIC ON LOCUST AVENUE. <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Charlottesville, <br />Virginia that Section 16-9.1 of the the Code of the City of <br />Charlottesville, 1976, as amended, is hereby amended and reordained <br />as follows: <br />Section 16-9.1. Streets closed to certain trucks. <br />(a) Tractor trucks (defined as any motor vehicle designed and <br />used primarily for drawing other vehicles and not so constructed <br />as to carry a load other than a part of the load and weight of the <br />vehicle attached thereto) and any other trucks of more than two <br />axles, with the exceptions described in subparagraph (b) below, are <br />prohibited from using the following City streets: <br />1) Jefferson Park Avenue from its intersection with <br />Fontaine Avenue and Maury Avenue to its intersection <br />(b) The streets listed above may be used by tractor trucks <br />and other trucks with more than two axles only for the purpose of <br />making deliveries or pick-ups of goods or passengers on that <br />street, or when use of such street is the only safe means of access <br />to another nearby street. In the case of the above described <br />northbound lane of Park Street, such lane may also be used by <br />trucks otherwise prohibited when those trucks are making deliveries <br />or pick-ups on Rio Road between its intersection with the City <br />limits and its intersection with Greenbrier Drive. <br />c) This ordinance shall have no application to pickup trucks, <br />which are defined as "any motor vehicle designed for the <br />• transportation of property with a registered gross weight of 7,500 <br />pounds or less." <br />Approved by Council <br />October 2, 1989 C V <br />k of C6uncil 89-7-29 <br />with Harris Road; <br />2) <br />Harris Road from its intersection with Fifth Street, <br />S.E. to its intersection with Jefferson Park Avenue <br />• <br />and Camellia Drive; <br />3) <br />The northbound lane of Park Street from the 250 <br />Bypass to the northern City limits; <br />4) <br />North Avenue from Park Street to Sheridan Avenue; <br />5) <br />Calhoun Street from Sheridan Avenue to St. Clair <br />Avenue; <br />6) <br />Locust Avenue from -the -250 -Bypass -to -River -Read; <br />7) <br />St. Clair Avenue from the 250 Bypass to Peartree <br />Lane; <br />8) <br />Belleview Avenue from River Road to St. Clair <br />Avenue; and <br />9) <br />Watson Avenue from the westbound Locust Avenue ramp <br />to Park Street. <br />(b) The streets listed above may be used by tractor trucks <br />and other trucks with more than two axles only for the purpose of <br />making deliveries or pick-ups of goods or passengers on that <br />street, or when use of such street is the only safe means of access <br />to another nearby street.
