• AN ORDINANCE <br />AMENDING AND REORDAINING SECTION 25-45.1 <br />OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE, 1976, <br />AS AMENDED, TO PROHIBIT VENDOR STANDS WITHIN AREAS <br />DESIGNATED FOR SPECIAL COMMUNITY EVENTS. <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Charlottesville, <br />Virginia that Section 25-45.1 of Article V of Chapter 25 of the <br />Code of the City of Charlottesville, Virginia, is hereby amended <br />and reordained as follows: <br />Sec. 25-45.1. Prohibited locations for vending in public <br />streets and sidewalks. <br />(a) Generally. Vending on public streets and sidewalks is <br />prohibited except in districts designated as business districts <br />under the city Zoning Ordinance. <br />(b) Vendor stands. Vendor stands may not be located where <br />they: <br />(1) Impede access to the entrance to any adjacent <br />building or driveway; <br />(2) Occupy more than half of the available sidewalk width <br />or four feet of such sidewalk width, whichever is less; <br />(3) Are within ten feet of a fire hydrant, public <br />• telephone, fire escape, driveway of a fire or police station or <br />hospital, bus stop or loading zone; <br />(4) Are within the portion of any street intended for the <br />use of motor vehicles; <br />(5) Are within lanes on the downtown mall reserved for <br />use by fire and emergency vehicles. For purposes of this article, <br />such lanes shall be designated on a map or plan approved by City <br />Council and kept in the office of the city zoning administrator. <br />(6) Are within a ribboned or other adequately marked <br />area on the downtown mall approved by Council in a formal "Special <br />Community Events" resolution. <br />Approved by Council <br />May 1, 1989 <br />rk of Council <br />89-7-16 <br />• <br />
