• AN ORDINANCE AMEND AND REORDAINING SECTIONS 24-2 AND 29-2 OF CHAPTERS 24 AND 29 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE, 1976, AS AMENDED, RELATING TO CHARGES FOR WATER AND SEWER SERVICE. BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Charlottesville, Virginia, that: 1. Section 24-2 of Chapter 24 and Section 29-2 of Chapter 29 of the Code of the City of Charlottesville, 1976, as amended, are hereby amended and reordained as follows: Sec. 24-2. Monthly service charges. Any person having a connection directly or indirectly, to the city sewer system shall pay therefor a monthly charge as follows: (a) A basic monthly service charge of $1.25. (b) An additional charge of $+A-35 $10.46 per thousand cubic feet, of metered water consumption. (c) Any water customer not discharging the entire volume of water used into the city's sanitary sewer system shall be allowed a reduction in the charges imposed hereunder; provided, that such person shall install, at his or her expense, a meter to record either the water which will, or will not, ultimately reach the city sewers. For customers with monthly water consumption in excess of thirty thousand cubic feet, where the director of finance considers the installation of a separate meter to be impracticable, he or she may establish a formula which will be calculated to require such person to pay the sewer charge only on that part of the water used by such person which ultimately reaches the city sewers. Sec. 29-2. Rates. Water rates shall be as follows: (a) Generally: (1) Monthly service charge . . . . . . . . This section shall not apply to special contracts for the consumption of water which have been authorized by the city council. 2.
