• Approved June 25, 1990 <br />AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND AND REORDAIN <br />SECTIONS 26.1-10, 31-190, 31-193, 31-199.1 AND 31-205, <br />AND TO ADD NEW SECTIONS NUMBERED 31-199.2, 31-199.3, 31-199.4, <br />AND 31-199.5 TO THE CODE OF THE CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE, 1976, <br />AS AMENDED, RELATED TO TREE PLANTING AND REPLACEMENT. <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Charlottesville, <br />Virginia, to amend and reordain Sections 26.1-10, 31-190, 31-193, <br />31-199.1 and 31-205 of the Code of the City of Charlottesville, <br />1976, as amended, and to add new sections, to be numbered 31-199.2, <br />31-199.3, 31-199.4 and 31-199.5, all to read as follows: <br />Sec. 26.1-10. Preservation of natural features and <br />amenities. <br />(a) Generally. Existing natural features which would add <br />value to residential development or to the City as a whole, such <br />as trees, watercourses, historic spots and similar irreplaceable <br />assets shall be protected wherever practicable in the design of the <br />subdivision. <br />. (b) Existing trees. <br />(1) The applicant shall make a bona fide effort to <br />protect existing trees in the design and development of a <br />subdivision and to replace those trees necessarily removed during <br />such development. <br />(2) All trees which are to be retained shall be marked <br />and protected during construction, with tree wells provided where <br />necessary to protect the tree from changes in grade. <br />Zoning Districts <br />Percentage of Site Cover <br />R-3, B-1, B-2, B-3, <br />B-4, M-1.
