• AN ORDINANCE <br />TO AUTHORIZE ACCEPTANCE OF OWNERSHIP <br />OF THE PROPERTY AT 809 PAGE STREET <br />FROM THE CHARLOTTESVILLE HOUSING IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM, AND <br />CONVEYANCE OF THE SAME PROPERTY TO HABITAT FOR HUMANITY. <br />WHEREAS, the Charlottesville Housing Improvement Program <br />("CHIP") purchased the property known as 809 Page Street using CDBG <br />funds with the intention of constructing a new house on said <br />property; and <br />WHEREAS, CHIP was not able to begin construction due to <br />financial problems, and wishes to donate the property to the City; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, Habitat for Humanity has expressed a desire to build <br />a single family home on the property if the City will donate the <br />property to it; and <br />WHEREAS, the Director of Community Development recommends <br />acceptance of the property from CHIP and conveyance to Habitat for <br />Humanity for construction of a house under the following <br />conditions: <br />(1) The house constructed must be a single family structure <br />• compatible with the surrounding neighborhood; <br />(2) The initial owners of the house must be current City <br />residents; <br />(3) The family must fall under the low and moderate income <br />guidelines as determined by HUD. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of <br />Charlottesville, Virginia that the City shall take whatever steps <br />are necessary to transfer ownership of 809 Page Street from CHIP to <br />the City, and the Mayor is hereby authorized to execute a deed of <br />gift, in form approved by the City Attorney, conveying ownership of <br />said property to Habitat for Humanity.
