• AN ORDINANCE <br />AMENDING AND REORDAINING SECTIONS 5-57,17-28, <br />18-1, 28-5, 28-29, 28-30, 28-119, AND 28-120 OF THE <br />CODE OF THE CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE, 1990, AS AMENDED, <br />RELATING TO SPECIAL EVENTS PROCEDURES. <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Charlottesville, Virginia, that Section <br />5-57 of Article II of Chapter 5, Section 17-28 of Chapter 17, Section 18-1 of Chapter 18, and <br />Sections 28-5, 28-29, and 28-30 of Article 1, and Sections 28-119 and 28-120 of Article IV, of <br />Chapter 28, of the Charlottesville City Code, 1990, as amended, are hereby amended and <br />reordained as follows: <br />CHAPTER 5. BUILDINGS AND BUILDING REGULATIONS <br />Article II. Building Code <br />Sec. 5-57. Special Permits. <br />(a) The fee for permits to erect tents and temporary structures shall be ten dollars <br />($10.00). <br />• (b) Permits to block parking spaces, sidewalks or streets, to build barricades or <br />sidewalk scaffolding or to do work within the city street rights-of-way shall be <br />secured from the building official, and a fee of one dollar shall be charged for <br />each day such permit is in effect: however, the fee(s) for temporary street closings <br />rg anted pursuant to Section 28-5 of the city code shalt be those established by the <br />city manager pursuant to that section. <br />CHAPTER 17. OFFENSES - MISCELLANEOUS <br />Sec. 17-28. Occupying or using streets or other public property contrary to law. <br />(a) No person shall occupy or use any of the streets, avenues, parks, bridges or other <br />public places or public property, or any public easement of any description, in a <br />manner not permitted to the general public without having first legally obtained <br />the consent thereto of the city council or a franchise therefor. <br />(b) A violation of this section shall constitute a Glass 1- Class 4 misdemeanor. <br />(c) The city manager is authorized to require permits for the use of city streets, <br />avenues, parks, bridges, and other public places or public property, for special <br />• <br />Prepared by Lisa R.
