First Reading: May 21, 2001 <br />• Approved by City Council on June 4, 2001 <br />AN ORDINANCE <br />TO AUTHORIZE CONVEYANCE <br />OF A CITY -OWNED PARCEL OF LAND ON PAGE STREET <br />TO PIEDMONT HOUSING ALLIANCE <br />WHEREAS, Piedmont Housing Alliance ("Piedmont') wishes to acquire a parcel of land <br />owned by the City, designated as Parcel 271.1 on City Real Estate Tax Map 4 (the "Property"), for <br />the purpose of constructing owner -occupied housing; and <br />WHEREAS, Piedmont Housing Alliance owns two parcels of land adjacent to the subject <br />Property, and would like to acquire this parcel to construct a single-family home; and <br />WHEREAS, in accordance with Virginia Code §15.2-1800(B), a public hearing was held <br />to give the public an opportunity to comment on the possible sale of said City land; and <br />WHEREAS, the City Assessor has appraised the fair market value of said land at $7,000.00, <br />but Piedmont requests that the City donate the parcel to Piedmont; and <br />• WHEREAS, the City Engineer and the Director of Neighborhood Development Services <br />have reviewed the plan and have no objections to the conveyance; now, therefore <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Charlottesville, Virginia that the Mayor <br />is hereby authorized to execute a deed of quitclaim, in form approved by the City Attorney, <br />conveying the above -referenced Property to Piedmont Housing Alliance. The deed shall: (1) require <br />Piedmont to construct on the Property a single family home which equals or exceeds 1,200 square <br />feet in area and (2) incorporate all the conditions of sale imposed on Piedmont and subsequent <br />purchasers of the property, as set forth in the agreement dated July 1, 2000 (Sections 6, 7 and 8) <br />between Piedmont Housing Alliance and the City. The City Attorney is hereby authorized to take <br />whatever steps are necessary to effect the closing of said property conveyance. <br />Approved by Council <br />June 4, 2001 <br />l� <br />1 rk of City Council <br />0 <br />
