First Reading: May 21, 2001 • Approved by City Council on June 4, 2001 AN ORDINANCE TO AUTHORIZE CONVEYANCE OF A CITY -OWNED PARCEL OF LAND ON PAGE STREET TO PIEDMONT HOUSING ALLIANCE WHEREAS, Piedmont Housing Alliance ("Piedmont') wishes to acquire a parcel of land owned by the City, designated as Parcel 271.1 on City Real Estate Tax Map 4 (the "Property"), for the purpose of constructing owner -occupied housing; and WHEREAS, Piedmont Housing Alliance owns two parcels of land adjacent to the subject Property, and would like to acquire this parcel to construct a single-family home; and WHEREAS, in accordance with Virginia Code §15.2-1800(B), a public hearing was held to give the public an opportunity to comment on the possible sale of said City land; and WHEREAS, the City Assessor has appraised the fair market value of said land at $7,000.00, but Piedmont requests that the City donate the parcel to Piedmont; and • WHEREAS, the City Engineer and the Director of Neighborhood Development Services have reviewed the plan and have no objections to the conveyance; now, therefore BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Charlottesville, Virginia that the Mayor is hereby authorized to execute a deed of quitclaim, in form approved by the City Attorney, conveying the above -referenced Property to Piedmont Housing Alliance. The deed shall: (1) require Piedmont to construct on the Property a single family home which equals or exceeds 1,200 square feet in area and (2) incorporate all the conditions of sale imposed on Piedmont and subsequent purchasers of the property, as set forth in the agreement dated July 1, 2000 (Sections 6, 7 and 8) between Piedmont Housing Alliance and the City. The City Attorney is hereby authorized to take whatever steps are necessary to effect the closing of said property conveyance. Approved by Council June 4, 2001 l� 1 rk of City Council 0
