AN ORDINANCE AMENDING AND RE -ORDAINING <br />Is SECTION 15-246, ARTICLE VI, CHAPTER 15 <br />OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE, 1990, AS AMENDED <br />RELATING TO RIDING AND SKATING ON SIDEWALKS <br />AND THE DOWNTOWN MALL <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Charlottesville, Virginia that Section <br />15-246, Article VI, of Chapter 15 of the Charlottesville City Code, 1990, as amended, is hereby <br />amended and re -ordained as follows: <br />Section 15-246. Riding and skating on sidewalks and the downtown mall. <br />No person shall ride a bicycle or moped on any sidewalk or other area designated exclusively <br />for pedestrian traffic including, without limitation, the pedestrian mall area on Main Street <br />between the Ninth Street bridge and Ridge -McIntire Road; provided, however, that this <br />prohibition shall not apply to on -duty police officers using the pedestrian mall. <br />No person shall ride or use rollerskates, rollerblades, skateboards, scooters, or similar devices <br />on wheels or runners on the above-described pedestrian mall area on Main Street. <br />Approved by Council <br />July 16, 2001 <br />• <br />k of City Council <br />11 <br />
