<br />AN ORDINANCE
<br />AMENDING AND REORDAINING CHAPTER 5 (BUILDINGS AND BUILDING
<br />REGULATIONS), AND CHAPTER 17 (OFFENSES - MISCELLANEOUS)
<br />OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE, 1990,
<br />AS AMENDED, RELATING TO PROPERTY MAINTENANCE AND UNSAFE STRUCTURES.
<br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Charlottesville, Virginia, that:
<br />I. Sections 5-1, 5-26, 5-27, 5-28, 5-56, 5-146 through 5-154, 5-161, 5-162, and 5-163 of Chapter 5, of
<br />the Charlottesville City Code, 1990, as amended, are hereby amended and reordained; and
<br />2. Sections 5-4, 5-161, 5-162, 5-163, 5-171, 5-172, 5-173, 5-174, 5-1,75, 5-181 through 5-185, and 5-
<br />191 through 5-198, of Chapter 5 are hereby added to the Charlottesville City Code, 1990, as
<br />amended; and
<br />3. Sections 17-22, 17-23, and Sections 17-30 through 17-36 of Chapter 17 of the Charlottesville City
<br />Code are hereby repealed; all as follows:

<br />ARTICLE I. In General
<br />5-1.Violations of chapter.
<br />Except as otherwise specifically provided, a violation of any provision of this chapter, including any
<br />provision of the codes adopted in Article II, shall constitute a Class 1 misdemeanor punishable by a fine
<br />of not more than two thousand five hundred dollars ($2,500.00). In addition, a person guilty of such
<br />violation shall make good all damages arising by reason of the violation and shall be subject to revocation
<br />of his license to do business in the city. For the purposes of this chapter, the word "person" shall include
<br />any individual. corporation. partnership. association, company, business, trust, ioint venture or other legal
