device, <br />electric power -assisted bicycle, <br />or moped for which a license plate, tag or decal has been <br />issued <br />pursuant to & 15-52 of the city <br />code, <br />if the record owner has been notified by mail at the <br />• address <br />provided in the license application) <br />then the property may be released to the finder; <br />(2) In all other cases the property shall be sold pursuant to &20-59 of the city code, or, at the <br />option of the city, donated to a charitable organization. <br />(b) For the purposes of this section the terms moped electric personal assistive mobilily device and <br />electric power -assisted bicycle shall mean and refer to the vehicles defined by those terms within 646.2- <br />100 of the Virginia Code. <br />3. Chapter 20 (Police), Article III (Unclaimed Property in Police Custody) of the City Code is hereby <br />amended as follows: <br />Sec. 20-57. Holding period; notice to owner or finder. <br />(a) All property referred to in 6 15-251 of the city code shall be held and disposed of in accordance with <br />the provisions of that section. <br />(b) A] property referred to in section 20-56 and not disposed of pursuant to section 20-61 (other than <br />property referenced in subparagraph (a), above) shall be held by the police department, awaiting a claim <br />by the rightful owner thereof, for at least sixty (60) days, during which time the police department shall <br />make reasonable attempts to notify the rightful owner that such property is available to be claimed. If the <br />property was turned over to the police department by a finder or finder's agent and it remains unclaimed <br />• by the rightful owner for at least sixty (60) days, the police department shall give notice of such fact to the <br />finder of such property at the finder's last known address.
