• AN ORDINANCE <br />AUTHORIZING THE CONVEYANCE OF <br />THREE (3) CITY -OWNED LOTS <br />TO PIEDMONT HOUSING ALLIANCE <br />WHEREAS, Piedmont Housing Alliance wishes to acquire three (3) City - <br />owned lots, identified as Parcels 129 and 130 on City Real Estate Tax Map 47A <br />(designated as 1230 and 1232 Holmes Avenue, respectively), and Parcel 47 on <br />City Real Estate Tax Map 25 (a lot at the intersection of 5`h Street and Berring <br />Street), hereinafter referred to as the "Property"; and <br />WHEREAS, Piedmont Housing Alliance intends to cause the development <br />of affordable housing, in the form of a single-family, detached, owner -occupied <br />residence, compatible with the surrounding neighborhood, on each lot; and <br />WHEREAS, the City staff recommends that (1) City Council donate the <br />above-described Property to Piedmont Housing Alliance, with conditions for <br />development of each lot as a single-family, owner -occupied residence, and (2) a <br />deed of trust lien be placed on each lot equal to the 2005 appraised value of said <br />lot, with the lien becoming due and payable if the lot is sold within thirty (30) <br />• years of the City's conveyance of the Property; and <br />WHEREAS, in accordance with Virginia Code sec. 15.2-1800 (B), a <br />public hearing was held to give the public an opportunity to comment on the <br />proposed conveyance of the City property as requested by Piedmont Housing <br />Alliance; and, <br />WHEREAS, the City Engineer, the City Traffic Engineer and the Public <br />Utilities Manager have reviewed the proposed conveyance and have no objection <br />thereto; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of <br />Charlottesville, Virginia that the Mayor is authorized to execute a deed, in form <br />approved by the City Attorney, for the three above-described lots located on <br />Holmes Avenue and 5"i Street, S.W. The City Attorney is hereby authorized to <br />take whatever steps are necessary to effect the closing of said property <br />conveyance. <br />Approved by Council <br />March 7, 2005 <br />C c of City Council <br />
