RESOLUTION <br />REQUEST FOR INDUSTRIAL ACCESS HIGHWAY FUNDS <br />WHEREAS, a request has been received from Pepsi Cola Bottling <br />of Central Virginia, Inc. ("Pepsi Cola") for construction of an <br />access road from Route 29 to their proposed new plant under the <br />Industrial Access Law (Section 33.1-221 of the Code of Virginia), <br />and the need for such improvement exists; and <br />WHEREAS, Pepsi Cola has agreed to make available all right <br />of way necessary for said improvements requested without cost to <br />the City or the Virginia Department of Highways and Transportation; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, Pepsi Cola has agreed to bear the cost of all <br />utility relocations made necessary by the requested improvement; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, Pepsi Cola's plant will provide substantially <br />increased employment and new revenues for the City; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City <br />of Charlottesville, Virginia, that the Virginia Department of <br />Highways and Transportation is requested to allocate industrial <br />• access funds for development of the road from Route 29 to the <br />Pepsi Cola plant; and be it further <br />RESOLVED that the City agrees to guarantee to the Virginia <br />Department of Highways and Transportation that any right of way <br />and drainage easements within the City dedicated to public use for <br />this access road will be accepted and recorded in the office of <br />the Clerk of the Circuit Court for the City of Charlottesville, <br />and that such road, when completed, will be accepted for city <br />maintenance. <br />Atteste: <br />Clerk of Council <br />• <br />Adopted by Council <br />August 2, 1982 <br />
