CITY OF
• CHARLOTTESVILLE
VIRGINIA
Enclosed is the revised copy of the Albemarle County contract for
bus service to the route 29 north corridor. The contract was approved
by you, the City Attorney and the Finance Department in February when
it was submitted to the County for budget consideration.
The amount to be paid by the County in the original contract was
$22,121, an $8,332 increase over the contract for the present year.
The contract amount was based on increasing the headways to 30 minutes
• on this route, as has been approved by City Council.
During its budget deliberations, the Board of Supervisors allocated
$18,243 for the bus service. (I am not sure how they arrived at this
figure, as it is 38% more than the current year's allocation but 22%
less than the amount requested). However, we will be able to provide
the service level with the increased headway since action by the Virginia
General Assembly in April, increased the state's participation in funding.
With the additional state funding, the County's share for the service is
$17,456 as is specified in the contract.
The only other difference in the attached contract and the one submitted
to you in February is on page two, paragraph 6) b. This section previously
contained a clause which would decrease the County's share if the federal
subsidy was increased. This paragraph is no longer applicable since there
appears to be no possibility for any increase in federal funding.
A copy of the agreement has been submitted to Guy Agnor with the
understanding that it is subject to City Council approval. Please let me
know if you have any questions about the proposed contract or if you want
to make any changes.
cc: Gary O'Connell
Roger Wiley
• John Berberich
Robert Sheets
MEMO
TO:
Cole Hendrix, City Manager
^
FROM:
Helen Poore, Transit Manager
DATE:
June 8, 1983
RE:
Albemarle County Contract for
Bus Service
Enclosed is the revised copy of the Albemarle County contract for
bus service to the route 29 north corridor.
