RESOLUTION <br />• AUTHORIZING GRANT APPLICATION <br />ON BEHALF OF <br />SHELTER FOR HELP IN EMERGENCY <br />• <br />0 <br />Whereas, the Shelter for Help in Emergency provides vital <br />emergency housing and related services for citizens of the <br />Charlottesville area; and <br />Whereas, the building currently occupied by the Shelter under <br />lease from the City is inadequate to meet the demands for its <br />services; and <br />Whereas, the Shelter has requested that the City apply in its <br />behalf to the Virginia Department of Housing and Community <br />Development for a Virginia Shelter Grant in the amount of $15,000 <br />to assist the Shelter in obtaining more adequate facilities; now, <br />therefore, be it <br />Resolved by the Council for the City of Charlottesville, <br />Virginia, that the City Manager or his designees are hereby <br />authorized and directed to make application to the Virginia <br />Department of Housing and Community Development for a grant to <br />be used by the Shelter for Help in Emergency, provided that the <br />City's acceptance of such grant, if it is awarded, will be subject <br />to the City Manager's receipt of satisfactory evidence from the <br />Shelter for Help in Emergency that it has available the requisite <br />local matching funds for such grant. <br />Adopted by the Council <br />April 20, 1987 <br />� jcU � n i <br />-reone Cox <br />Clerk of Council <br />87-6-21 <br />
