RESOLUTION <br />• GRANTING SPECIAL USE PERMIT TO LAMBDA GAMMA <br />OF CHI OMEGA HOUSE CORPORATION <br />TO EXPAND SORORITY HOUSE AT 123 CHANCELLOR STREET <br />WHEREAS, W. Douglas Gilpin, Jr., agent for Lambda Gamma of Chi <br />Omega House Corporation, owner of property known as 123 Chancellor <br />Street, has requested a special use permit to expand the existing <br />sorority building with a one-story addition in the rear; this <br />property being further identified on City Real Property Tax Map #9 <br />as parcel 140, having approximately 73 feet of frontage on <br />Chancellor Street, and containing approximately 9,363.5 square feet <br />of land, or .21 acres; <br />WHEREAS, following a joint public hearing before this Council <br />and the Planning Commission, duly advertised and held on <br />January 15, 1992, this Council finds that such use will conform to <br />the criteria applicable to special permits generally under Chapter <br />34 of the City Code, and to the specific criteria for group <br />residential uses in Section 34-200 of said Code; and further finds <br />that a modification of the rear yard setback is appropriate <br />pursuant to Section 34-944 of the Code; now, therefore <br />BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Charlottesville, <br />Virginia that a special use permit is hereby granted to Lambda <br />• Gamma of Chi Omega House Corporation to expand the existing <br />sorority building at 123 Chancellor Street with a one-story <br />addition in the rear with a rear yard setback of twenty (20) feet. <br />The approval of this special use permit is conditioned upon <br />1. Administrative approval of the amended site plan, which <br />shall include the following: <br />(a) Method of shielding outdoor lighting from adjacent <br />properties; <br />(b) Method of handling roof drains; <br />(c) Marking of space #1 as the "compact space only". <br />(d) Location of a replacement tree in the northwest corner of <br />the site; <br />(e) Soil erosion/sediment control measures as may be needed <br />or required by the Zoning Inspector during construction, <br />and; <br />(f) Data on the total number of sorority members, building <br />occupants and dining room capacities. <br />2.
