• RESOLUTION <br />OF THE <br />CHARLOTTESVILLE CITY COUNCIL <br />WHEREAS, in the early morning hours of .September 6, <br />1996, Tropical Storm Fran raged through the Charlottesville <br />area; and <br />WHEREAS, the winds and rain associated with the storm <br />topped hundreds of trees, leaving thousands of residents and <br />businesses without power, and flooded many streets, homes, and <br />parks; and <br />WHEREAS, during the storm and for days afterwards, <br />employees from the Departments of Police, Fire, Public Works, <br />• and Parks and Recreation worked tireless to aid those in need <br />and to return the community to normal. <br />0 <br />NOW, THEREFORE, the Charlottesville City Council, <br />on behalf of the Charlottesville community, would like to <br />commend the City employees who participated in emergency and <br />relief efforts, and thank them for selflessly devoting their time <br />and energies for the public good, often at the expense of their own <br />and their families' comfort. <br />Approved this 16th day of September, 1996. <br />nne Cox <br />Clerk of City Council <br />
