Approved June 16, 1997 <br />RESOLUTION APPROVING A SPECIAL USE PERMIT <br />• FOR THE CHARLOTTESVILLE ICE PARK <br />WHEREAS, Charlottesville 2000, L.C., owner of the property known as the <br />Charlottesville Ice Park at the western end of the downtown mall, has requested a special use <br />permit to use a portion of the Ice Park buildings for an amusement arcade, being further <br />idenitified as Parcel 1 on City Real Property Tax Map #28, having collectively 336 feet of <br />frontage on West Main Street, 154 feet of frontage on Water Street and containing collectively <br />40,794 square feet of land, or .94 acres; <br />WHEREAS, following a joint public hearing before this Council and the Planning <br />Commission, duly advertised and held on June 10, 1997, this Council finds that such use will <br />conform to the criteria applicable to special permits generally under Chapter 34 of the City Code; <br />now, therefore, <br />BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Charlottesville, Virginia that a special <br />use permit is hereby approved and granted to Charlottesville 2000, L.C. to use a portion of the <br />Charlottesville Ice Park buildings for an amusement arcade. This approval is conditioned upon <br />the following: <br />1. That the amusement arcade be located in the area shown on the approved site <br />• plan, consisting of approximately 1,000 square feet of floor area at the rear of 218 West Main <br />Street and accessed through the Ice Park lobby only. <br />2. That the hours of operation be limited to the hours of operation for the Ice Park; <br />provided that the amusement arcade not operate any later than midnight. <br />3. That at all times during operation, a manager and a minimum of one employee be <br />on duty at the Ice Park to monitor use of the amusement arcade. <br />4. That the amusement arcade not be used for gaming or other activities requiring <br />special state license (such as lotto, or off-track betting). <br />5. That the number of people permitted by the Building Code to occupy the <br />amusement arcade space be posted in the facility. <br />Approved by Council <br />June 16, 1997 <br />e k of City Council <br />0 <br />
