0 <br />RESOLUTION <br />WHEREAS, by Resolution adopted February 17, 2009, City Council directed the Planning <br />Commission to initiate a study of proposed amendments to Chapter 34 (Zoning) of the Charlottesville City <br />Code, 1990, as amended, to eliminate the parking exempt zones; enact requirements for on-site parking, <br />off-site parking, and payment into a fund to build a new public parking garage and/or to create a park & <br />ride system; and to include incentives for developers to encourage carpooling, car shuttling, biking, or use <br />of mass transit; and <br />WHEREAS, Sec. 34-42(c) of the City Code, as amended, requires the Planning Commission to <br />report findings and a recommendation to City Council within 100 days of initiation of proposed <br />amendments, i.e. no later than May 28, 2009; and <br />WHEREAS, on April 14, 2009, the Planning Commission held a joint public hearing on the <br />proposed amendments, and after discussion on the issues involved, decided they needed additional <br />information and further discussion before a recommendation to Council could be made; and <br />WHEREAS, the Planning Commission has formally requested an additional 150 days to study the <br />issues and report their findings and recommendations to Council; now, therefore <br />• BE IT RESOLVED that the Planning Commission is hereby directed to report their findings and <br />recommendations on the above-described proposed amendments, as directed by Resolution approved <br />February 17, 2009, no later than October 26, 2009. <br />Approved by Council <br />May 4, 2009 <br />Q9Pt of City Council <br />0 <br />
