172 <br /> <br />now, therefore, <br /> <br /> BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of <br />Charlottesville, Virginia, that $55,000 is hereby <br />appropriated to expenditure account 11-042-061070 in the <br />Grants Fund for the costs incurred by the City pursuant to <br />the aforesaid contract for perinatal nutrition and education <br />services. Such appropriation shall be conditioned upon <br />reimbursement from the Commonwealth of Virginia. <br /> <br />APPROPRIATION: $18,114.74 - SUMMER NUTRITION PROGRAM (2nd reading) <br /> <br /> The $18,114.74 appropriation for the Summer Nutrition <br />Program which was offered at the July 18th meeting, was <br />approved by the following vote. Ayes: Mr. Buck, Rev. <br />Edwards, Mro Towe, Mr. Vandever, Ms. Waters. Noes: None. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the U. S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has <br />established the Summer Food Service Program to bring about an <br />increased awareness of the critical importance of proper <br />nutrition for children and a belief that school vacation <br />should not end the availability of nutritious meals for many <br />children; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Charlottesville shares the same <br />concerns as USDA; now, therefore, <br /> <br /> BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of <br />Charlottesville that a Summer Food Service Program be <br />established as part of the City of Charlottesville's Summer <br />Recreation Programs and $18,114,74 is hereby appropriated to <br />Grants ~Fund account 11-042-062028 for implementation of this <br />program. Such appropriation shall be conditioned upon <br />reimbursement from USDA. <br /> <br />APPROPRIATION: $14,000 - VIRGINIA SHELTER GRANT FOR SHELTER FOR <br />HELP IN EMERGENCY (2nd reading) <br /> <br /> The $14,000 appropriation of the Virginia Shelter Grant <br /> for the Shelter for Help in Emergency which was offered at <br /> the July 18th meeting, was approved by the following vote. <br /> Ayes: Mr. Buck, Rev. Edwards, Mr. Towe, Mr. Vandever, Ms. <br /> Waters. Noes: None. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Virginia Department of Housing and <br />Community Development has notified the City of its grant <br />award under the Virginia Shelter Grant Program; now, <br />therefore, <br /> <br /> BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of <br />Charlottesville that $14,000 is hereby appropriated from the <br />Grants Fund to expenditure account 11-042-062026 for use by <br />the Shelter for Help in Emergency (SHE). Such activities <br />shall be conducted under contract with the City. Such <br />appropriation shall be conditioned upon receipt of $14,000 <br />from the Virginia Department of Housing and Community <br />Development's Virginia Shelter Grant Program (VSGP-1987) and <br />matching funds from the agency. <br /> <br />APPROPRIATION: $137,883 - CHARTER HOUSE (2nd reading) <br /> <br /> The $137,883 appropriation for Charter House which was <br />offered at the July 18th meeting, was approved by the <br />following vote. Ayes: Mr. Buck, Rev. Edwards, Mr. Towe, <br />Mr. Vandever, Ms. Waters° Noes: None. <br /> <br /> BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of <br />Charlottesville, Virginia, that the sum of $137,883 is hereby <br />appropriated from the Grants Fund to expenditure aCcount <br />11-042-062025 for operation of a Home for Homeless Alcoholics <br />(Charter House) during the 1988-1989 fiscal year. Such home <br />shall be operated by the Region Ten Community Services <br />Division of Alcohol and Substance Abuse under contract with <br /> <br /> <br />
