Edwards, seconded by Mr. Vandever, the <br /> areas listed above.by.Ms..Mue!ler were unanimously referred <br /> to the Planning CommisSion for~their review and comment. <br /> <br />STAFF REPORT: WASTEiMANAGEMENT~TASKFORCE .... <br /> <br /> Mr Hendrix requested that Council. review and approve. <br /> the proposed charge and compositiOn of~the waste~management <br /> task force. <br /> <br /> Ms. Mueller described the proposed charge of the task <br /> force as follows: 1) review all available information, <br /> reports and alternatives; 2) evaluate short and long-term <br /> strategies; 3) review soil study; 4)~ develop hierarchy of <br /> alternatives for managing solid waste and develop cost <br /> figures; 5) encourage public input and education; 6) make <br /> recommendations to the Board of Supervisors and Council <br /> within a seven month time period. <br /> <br /> 'RespOnding t0 a question from Mr, Vandever,~MS. Mueller <br /> stated that it might be necessary for the task force to call <br /> in a Consultant which could cost approximately $5,0'00, an <br /> amount which could be absorbed in the existing budget. <br /> <br /> On motion by Rev. Edwards, seconded by Mr. Vandever, the <br /> proposed charge and composition of the waste management task <br /> force was unanimously appr. oved by Council. ~ <br /> <br />PRESENTATION: POLICE DEPARTMENT - DRUGS <br /> <br /> Police Chief J0hn~deK0ven BoWen and Detective Chip <br />Harding, Supervisor of the Drug Unit, described the drug <br />problems and crimes that are committed aS a result which <br />exist on both the local and national level. <br /> <br /> Mr. Chic Thompson stated that he would donate twenty <br />copies of a video on cocaine use to the Police Department. <br /> <br />APPROPRIATION: $7,488 ~ BAILIFF FOR JUVENiLE~:&~DOMESTiC . 3 <br />RELATIONS COURT (2nd reading) ''- ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ <br /> <br /> The $7~.488 ~apPropriation f0~-the~>Bailiff fore,the <br />Juvenile and DomestiC RelatiOns~c0u~t which was 6ffe~ed at <br />the February 6th meeting was approved by the following, vote. <br />Ayes: 'i~M~' BuCk,'Rev'~Edwa~ds~'iMr~-Towei'~r~ Vandever, Ms. <br />Waters, Noes: None. - · <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City has agreed with Albemarle CountY to <br />jointly fund an additional bailiff position at the Juvenile <br />and Domestic Relations Court forChartottesville-and · · <br />Albemarle because of the increased workload and special <br />transportation requirements for juvenileS; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the State.Compensation Board has recentlY` <br />approved funding a portion of the costs of this additional <br />bailiff position; noW, ~therefOre, <br /> <br /> ' BE' IT' RESOLVED by the COUncil of the City of <br /> Charlottesville, Virginia that the sum of $7,48.8 is her~ebY <br /> appropriated'from accoUnt code 05~250-032030 ~of the <br /> unappropriated bal'anCe Of t~he G~n'eral FUnd as~ the City.,s <br /> share of the operating and fringe coStS through June 30, 1989 <br /> for a bailiff position in the CharlottesVille-Albemarle <br /> Juvenile and Domestic Relations DiStrict Court. ThiS bailiff <br /> position will be a part of the Albemarle County Sheriff's <br /> Department.'
