289 <br /> <br />authorized to sign an addendum to the City]s contract with <br />the Certified Public Accountant firm of Peat Marwick Main, <br />dated March21~ 1984, extending the con_tract an additional <br />year, to cover~ audit services for the fiscal year ending June <br />30, 1989, upon the advice and approval of the Director of <br />Fin'ance, and the City Attorney, <br /> <br />ORDINANCE: ADOPTING APPENDIX_B OF BOCA FIRE PREVENTION CODE- <br /> <br /> The ordinance entitled "AN ORDINANCE ADDING TO ARTICLE <br /> III OF CHAPTER 11 A NEW SECTION NUMBERED 11-16 ADOPTING <br /> REGULATIONS RELATING TO FIRE CONTROL MEASURES," which was <br /> offered at the February 21st meeting, was approved by the <br /> following vote. Ayes: Mr. Buck, Rev_. Edwards, Mr. Vandever, <br /> Ms. Waters. Noes: None. _Absent: Mr. Towe. <br /> <br />ORDINANCE: CLOSING~A PORTION~OF~STONEHENGE~AVENUE BETWEEN AVON <br />AND EARLY STREET <br /> <br /> Mr. Huja stated that the Planning Commission recommended <br /> approval of the closing of a portion of Stonehenge Avenue <br /> between Avon and Early Streets with the following conditions: <br /> 1) Recording of the construction easement presented for the <br /> City; 2) Recording of individual License Agreements with each <br /> of the property owners affected by the closing; and 3) That a <br /> 20 foot utility easement be retained for~the benefit of the <br /> City down the center of the right-of-way. <br /> <br /> Responding to a question from Mr. Vandever regarding-why <br /> the neighbors wanted the street closed, Mr. Huja replied that <br /> the property dropped off-significantly and the closing~would <br /> allow better use of the adjoining~property. <br /> <br /> Mr. Gouldman pointed, out that access to the property by <br /> surrounding property owners does not go on in perpetuity. <br /> <br /> Rev. Edwards stated that he had concerns about limiting <br /> future access and about not-~charging_~for-the property. <br /> <br /> Mr. Buck stated that he felt if the surrounding property <br />owners have reached an agreement then the Council should <br />respect that decision. <br /> <br /> Mr. Huja stated that'all affected property owners have <br />seen and agreed to the document. <br /> <br /> Onlmotion by Mr. ~Vandever,~seconded~by Mr. Buck, the- <br />ordinance entitled "AN ORDINANCE CLOSING, VACATING AND <br />DISCONTINUING A PORTION OF STONEHENGE AVENUE" was offered and <br />carried over to the next meeting for consideration. <br /> <br />ORDINANCE: REZONING PROPERTY~ON3PARK PLACE~SOUTH OF LANE ROAD <br />FROM R-3 TO~B-3 ..... ~ ~. ~ ~ - <br /> <br /> Mr. Huja stated that the Planning Commission recommended <br /> approval of the rezoning of land at.~Park~Place--for~the~ <br /> following reasons:- 1)~It is~'in harmony with the <br /> Comprehensive Plan in that~the proposed zoning.category~is <br /> consistent with the B-3 use of the University of Virginia <br /> Medical Center adjacent to-it; 2) It will not have a <br /> significant.adverse affect on the~area if~developed in <br /> conjunction with the~other~MedicallCenter~ptans; and 3) It <br /> will permit the development of needed additional parking for <br /> the University of Virginia MedicalCenter.~ ~' . <br /> <br /> On motion by Rev. Edwards, seconded by Mr. Vandever, the <br /> ordinance entitled "AN ORDINANCE AMENDING AND REENACTING THE <br /> DISTRICT MAP INCORPORATED.IN,SECTION 31=40'F THE~ZONING <br /> ORDINANCE OF THE CODE ~OF THE CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE, 1976~ <br /> AS AMENDED, BY THE REZONING OF PROPERTY LOCATED AT PARK · <br /> PLACE" was offered and carried over to the next meeting for <br /> consider-a~ion, ~ ~ ~' ~ <br /> <br /> <br />
