offered and carried over to the next meeting for <br />consideration. <br /> <br />RESOLUTION: <br /> <br />STREET <br /> <br />AUTHORIZING MAYOR TO_SIGN EASEMENT FOR 524 E. MAIN <br /> <br /> Mr. Hendrix stated that the City owns the property on <br />the corner of Water and 5th Street, S.E. and an easement is <br />being requested to cross that property to allow access to <br />adjoining properties. <br /> <br /> Ms. Sheila Haughey, Acting City Attorney, stated that <br />the easement had been informally agreed to throughout the <br />years but had never been formalized. Ms. Haughey stated <br />that the new owners of the property are requesting the <br />easement in order to obtain title insurance. <br /> <br /> Onmotion by Mr. Barnes, seconded by Mrs. Gleason, the <br />resolution authorizing the Mayor to sign an easement for 524 <br />E. Main Street was unanimously approved by Council. <br /> <br /> BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of <br />Charlottesville, Virginia that the Mayor is hereby authorized <br />to execute on behalf of the City the following document, in <br />form approved by the City Attorney: <br /> <br />Easement between the City and Ronald D. Wiley, Jr., <br />Trustee for the 524 East Main Street Land Trust, <br />dated 11/30/87, to provide access to 5th Street, S.E. <br />to the property at 524 East Main Street (City Tax Map <br />53, parcel 70). <br /> <br /> A copy of such document shall be kept on file with the <br />minutes of the Council meeting at which this resolution was <br />adopted. <br /> <br />RESOLUTION: DESIGNATING DEPOSITORY FOR CITY <br /> <br /> Mr. Hendrix stated that the City,s insurance company <br />requires that Council designate the depositories for City <br />funds. <br /> <br /> On motion by Dr. Hall, seconded by Mr. Barnes, Council <br /> approved the resolution designating depository for the City <br /> by the following vote. Ayes: Mr. Barnes, Mr. Buck, Mrs. <br /> Gleason, Dr. Hall. Noes: None. Abstaining: Mr. Towe due <br /> to the fact that he is amember of the board of Investor <br /> Savings and Loan, one of the depositories for the City. <br /> <br /> ''RESOLVED; that the following banking institutions: <br /> Central Fidelity Bank, Crestar, Signet, Sovran, Jefferson <br /> National, Investors Savings & Loan Association, Virginia <br /> Federal, and Ameribanc, which have qualified as public <br /> depositories under Section 2.1-359 et. seq. of the Virginia <br /> Statutes, shall be and are hereby designated as public <br /> depositories for all public moneys coming into the hands of <br /> Laurie Gene Harding as treasurer of the City of <br /> Charlottesville, Virginia. <br /> <br />ORDINANCE: CLOSING A PORTION OF AN ALLEY OFF.PRESTON AVENUE <br />(2nd reading) ~ ~ <br />ORDINANCE:. AUTHORIZING SALE OF PROPERTY ON PRESTON AVENUE <br />(2nd reading) <br /> <br /> Mr. Hendrix stated that agreement had been reached <br /> concerning the sale price for lot 82, but had not been <br /> reached concerning sale of lot 96. Mr. Hendrix stated that <br /> lot 82 would be sold for $10,000. <br /> <br /> Mr. Barnes stated that he would abstain from disCussing <br /> both ordinances due to a potential conflict of interest. <br /> <br /> Mr. David Pettit, attorney for the purchaser of the <br /> <br /> <br />
