9 <br /> <br /> Mro .Dunbar stated that renovation of Venable School is <br />in the planning and information collecting stage, with <br />architects· meeting with the instructional staff. Mr. Dunbar <br />stated that the architects have requested that an <br />inflationary increase be added to the original estimate for <br />the renovations at Venable, but have been'told to work <br />within the present framework at this time. Mr. Dunbar <br />stated that many of the site plan issues could be completed <br />at a later stage if necessary. <br /> <br /> Mr. Dunbar stated that the Alternative Education <br />Program is now housed on Westwood Road which is proving to <br />be a very successful location. <br /> <br /> Mr. Towe thanked the School Board and Council for their <br />support of Julian King night. <br /> <br /> Ms. Linda Seaman, School Board member, stated that she <br />acts as liaison between the Board and the Band Boosters and <br />that fund raising for the Band's scheduled trip to the <br />Cotton Bowl is very successful at this time. <br /> <br />eeting was adjourned. <br />President <br /> <br />COUNCIL CHAMBER - October 19, 1987 <br /> <br /> Council met in regular session on this date with the <br />folloWing memberS present: Mr. Barnes, Mr. Buck, Mrs. <br />Gleason, Mr. Towe. Absent: Dr. Hall. <br /> <br />MINUTES <br /> <br /> On motion by Mr. Towe, Seconded by Mr. Barnes, the <br />minutes of the meeting of October 5th were unanimously <br />approved by Council. <br /> <br />PUBLIC <br /> <br />There were no matters by the public. <br /> <br />PUBLIC HEARING: DRAINAGE RECOMMENDATioNs <br /> <br /> Mr. Hendrix stated that this second public hearing on <br />drainage recommendations was being held due t© the failure <br />of the newspaper to run the advertisement. <br /> <br /> Ms. Judith Mueller, Director of Public Works, reviewed <br />the history of drainage projects in the City, and stated <br />that it had been determined that the City was not legally <br />liable for the projects presently under consideration, nor <br />were these projects considered to pose a threat to the <br />public safety. Ms. Mueller stated that the Public Works <br />staff had received many postive comments regarding the <br />proposed citizen participation program for financing the <br />drainage projects. <br /> <br /> Mr. ForreSt Hildebrand of 208 Meade AvenUe, stated that <br />the creek behind his property is eroding his yard and he <br />feels that it is the City's responsibility to correct the <br />prOblem. <br /> <br /> Mr, Mack Marshall of 711 Evergreen Avenue, stated that <br />three storm drains go through his yard, that one has rusted <br />out, and there is presently a sinkhole four-feet wide, <br />six-feet.deep and fifteen-feet long in his yard. <br /> <br /> <br />
