48 <br /> <br />ESTABLISH PERMIT, FEE AND BOND REQUIREMENTS, AND <br />COMPREHENSIVE PAVEMENT CUTTING STANDARDS FOR ALL <br />EXCAVATIONS IN PUBLIC WAYS" was offered and carried over <br />to the next meeting for consideration. <br /> <br />ORDINANCE: AMENDING SECTION 10-20 RE: MAILING OF TAX BILLS <br /> <br /> Mr. Hendrix stated that the ordinance would correct a <br />conflict of dates concerning mailing dates for the twice a <br />year billing for personal property tax. <br /> <br /> On motion by Mrs. Gleason, seconded by Dr. Hall, the <br />ordinance entitled "AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND SECTION 10-20 OF <br />THE CODE OF THE ~CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE, 1976, AS AMENDED, <br />TO CORRECT PROVISIONS RELATING TO THE MAILING OF TAX <br />BILLS" was offered and carried over to the next meeting <br />for consideration. <br /> <br />OTHER BUSINESS <br /> <br /> Mr. Buck presented a resolution supporting the <br />nomination of Cole Hendrix to the Executive Committee of <br />the Virginia Municipal League. <br /> <br /> On motion by Mrs. Gleason, seconded by Mr. Towe, the <br />resolution supporting the nomination of Cole Hendrix to <br />the Executive Committee of the Virginia Municipal League <br />was unanimously approved by Council. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the seat on the Executive Committee of the <br />Virginia Municipal League traditionally reserved for a <br />city manager is currently vacant) and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Virginia Section of the International <br />City Management Association has nominated Cole Hendrix to <br />fill that vacancy; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the election of Mr. Hendrix to the Executive <br />Committee would be of great value to the Virginia <br />Municipal League, and would also benefit the City by <br />giving it a more direct role in the establishment of the <br />League's policies and the management of its affairs; now, <br />therefore, be it <br /> <br /> RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />CHARLOTTESVILLE, VIRGINIA, that the Council endorses and <br />suports the nomination and election of its City Manager, <br />Cole Hendrix, to the Executive Committee of the Virginia <br />Municipal League. <br /> Mrs. Gleason stated that the Albemarle County Board <br />of Supervisors had recommended that the new City/County <br />park be named Rivanna Park following the decision of <br />Council to recommend that the park be named Riverside <br />Park. <br /> <br /> On motion by Mr. Barnes, seconded by Mr. Towe, <br />Council recommended that the new City/County Park be named <br />Rivanna Park by the following vote. Ayes: Mr. Barnes, <br />Mr. Buck, Mr. Towe. Noes: Mrs. Gleason, Dr. Hall. <br /> <br /> Dr. Hall raised concerns about the safety of the <br />10th and Page Street area. <br /> <br /> Mr. Hendrix stated that staff had done everything <br />legally possible in the area and that the problems that <br />remained were considered housing issues which would <br />continue to be addressed. <br /> <br /> Mr. Towe complimented the Police for their efforts <br />in the fraternity neighborhoods during the previous <br />weekend. <br /> <br />It was agreed that Mrs. Gleason and Mr. Towe would <br /> <br /> <br />
