the Gas Assistance Program was unanimously approved by <br />Council to be operated for another year. <br /> <br />ORDINANCE: RELATING TO LANGUAGE RE: <br />ORDINANCE (2nd reading) <br /> <br />BILLING RATE IN GAS RATES <br /> <br /> The ordinance entitled "AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND AND <br /> REORDAIN SECTION 12-3, AS AMENDED, OF THE CODE OF THE CITY <br /> OF CHARLOTTESVILLE, 1976, RELATING TO NATURAL GAS RATES <br /> AND TO RATIFY AND AFFIRM CERTAIN BILLINGS MADE BY THE <br /> DIRECTOR OF FINANCE PURSUANT TO PRIOR ACTIONS OF CITY <br /> COUNCIL,, which was offered at the November 3rd meeting, <br /> was approved by the following vote. Ayes: Mr. Barnes, <br />Mr. Buck, Mrs. Gleason, Dr. Hall, Mr. Towe. Noes: None. <br />ORDINANCE: LOWERING CERTAIN BUSINESS LICENSE TAX RATES <br />(2nd reading) <br /> <br /> The ordinance entitled "AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND AND <br /> REORDAIN SECTIONS 15-112, 15-113, AND 15-114 OF THE CODE <br /> OF THE CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE, 1976, AS AMENDED, IN ORDER <br /> TO REDUCE THE RATE OF TAXATION ON CERTAIN CLASSIFICATIONS <br /> OF BUSINESS, PROFESSIONAL AND OCCUPATIONAL LICENSES,' which <br /> was offered at the November 3rd meeting, was approved by <br /> the following vote.~ Ayes: Mr. Barnes, Mr. Buck, Mrs. <br /> Gleason, Dr. Hall, Mr. Towe. Noes: None. <br /> <br />ORDINANCE: CLOSING AN UNUSED PORTION OF OLD WATER STREET <br /> <br /> Mr. Hendrix stated that a request had been received <br /> to close a portion of Old Water Street adjacent to the C & 0 <br /> Station, viewers had been appointed, and neither the <br /> viewers nor staff had objections to the closing. <br /> <br /> On motion by Mr. Barnes, seconded by Mrs. Gleason, <br /> the ordinance entitled "AN ORDINANCE CLOSING, VACATING AND <br /> DISCONTINUING A PORTION OF OLD WATER STREET" was offered <br /> and carried over to the next meeting for consideration. <br /> <br />OTHER BUSINESS <br /> <br /> Mr. Hendrix read a letter from Mr. Guy Agnor, <br />Albemarle County Executive, requesting that a joint <br />meeting be held with the Albemarle County Board of <br />Supervisors and City Council in order to develop a joint <br />statement for the State Highway Department regarding the <br />proposed widening of Route 29 North. <br /> <br /> Mro Barnes stated that he did not feel the discussion <br />with the County should be confined to Route 29 North as he <br />felt the proposed widening of Route 29 North could have an <br />effect on the proposed Meadowcreek Parkway. <br /> <br /> Mro Buck stated that staff would be sending <br />information to Council regarding the various highway <br />projects and that it may be helpful for Council to meet <br />before the meeting with the County to outline the City's <br />concerns in order to make the meeting with the County more <br />productive. <br /> <br /> It was agreed that a meeting would be scheduled with <br />the County. <br /> <br /> On motion by Mr. Barnes, seconded by Dr. Hall, <br />Council unanimously voted to meet in executive session to <br />discuss legal matters and disposition or use of public <br />property as exempted by Section 2.1-344(a)(2) and (6) of <br />the Virginia Freedom of Information Act. <br /> <br />eting was adjourned. <br /> <br /> perk <br /> <br /> <br />
