1S7

of South Street Inn and also representing Soltec, stated
that he was not opposed to the Vinegar Hill South
development but felt that closing Saxton Street would not
leave a viable alternative to entering South Street from
Water Street at its western end other than making a sharp
U-turn at the corner of Water and South Street.

Mr. Craig Redinger~ a partner in the Vinegar Hill South
project, proposed rounding the tip at the intersection of
Water and South Street, thereby making an easier turn onto
South Street from Market Street.

Ms. Mueller stated that the Traffic Engineer had
reviewed the street closing and felt that the sharp turn
presently existing from Water onto South Street would be
difficult for trucks to make and that making South Street
two ways would eliminate the parking.

Mr. Dupree stated that he felt rounding the tip at
Water and South Streets would satisfy his concerns.

Mr. Barnes questioned whether it would be possible to
leave a pedestrian access through Saxton Street.

Mr. Redinger stated that a pedestrian access would be
maintained on Saxton Street, part of which would be lighted
and covered and therefore more controlled.

With the understanding that any further concerns could
be discussed by staff, Mr. Redinger and persons affected by
the street closing before the second reading, .Mr. Barnes
moved the ordinance entitled "AN ORDINANCE CLOSING, VACATING
AND DISCONTINUING SAXTON STREET." Dr. Hall seconded the
matter and it was carried over to the next meeting for
consideration.

ORDINANCE: VACATING SUBDIVISION PLAT FOR SEMINOLE SQUARE

Mr. Wiley stated that a new subdivision plat had been
approved and the old plat must be vacated.

On motion by Dr. Hall, seconded by Mrs. Gleason, the
ordinance entitled "AN ORDINANCE VACATING AND DISCONTINUING
A PORTION OF THE SUBDIVISION PLAT OF SEMINOLE SQUARE" was
offered and carried over to the next meeting for
consideration.

PUBLIC

There were no matters by the public.

OTHER BUSINESS

eeting was

Mr. Hendrix stated that the Utility Rate Report would
be taken up in a work session and another public hearing on
the proposed budget would be held on April 6th.

adjourned.
