Ayes: Mr. Barnes, Mr. <br />Buck, Mrs. Gleason, Dr. Hall, Mr. Towe. Noes: None. <br /> <br /> BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of <br />Charlottesville, Virginia, that new funding received from <br />the Governor's Employment and Training Department of the <br />Commonwealth of Virginia pursuant to the Job Training <br />Partnership Act is hereby appropriated to the JTPA fund, to <br />be expended by the piedmont Job Training Administration on <br />authorization from the City Manager or his designee, and in <br />accordance with the applicable state and federal laws and <br />regulations, to carry out the purpose of the Act. <br /> <br /> Responding to a question from Mr. Towe, Mr. Hendrix <br />stated that the City does not control the decisions <br />concerning the agencies with which JTPA conctracts. <br /> <br />APPROPRIATION: $240,060 - PURCHASE OF LAND AT 5TH AND WATER <br />STREETS (2nd reading) <br /> <br /> The ~240,060 appropriation for the purchase of land at <br />5th and Water Streets which was offered at the February 2nd <br />meeting was approved by the following vote. Ayes: Mr. <br />Barnes, Mr. Buck, Mrs. Gleason, Dr. Hall, Mr. Towe. Noes: <br />None. <br /> <br /> BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of <br />Charlottesville, Virginia, that the sum of $240,060.00~is <br />hereby transferred from account 07-11010 in the General <br />Revenue Sharing Fund to the Capital Projects Fund and <br />appropriated to expenditure account 05-73060 therein for the <br />acquisition of land at the northeast corner of Fifth and <br />Water Streets, S.E. to be used for public parking and other <br />purposes related to the economic development of the downtown <br />area of the City. <br /> <br />APPROPRIATION: $50.00 - PRIVATE DONATION TO FIRE DEPARTMENT <br /> <br /> On motion by Mr. Barnes, seconded by Dr. Hall, the <br />appropriation of the $50.00 private donation to the Fire <br />Department was approved by the following vote. Ayes: Mr. <br />Barnes, Mr. Buck, Mrs. Gleason, Dr. Hall, Mr. Towe. Noes: <br />None. <br /> <br /> BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of <br />Charlottesville, Virginia that the sum of $50.00, received <br />as a donation to the City Fire Department, is hereby <br />received as revenue in the General Fund and appropriated to <br />expenditure account 01-22012-5399 to be expended as directed <br />by the Fire Chief for the benefit of Fire Department <br />personnel. <br /> <br />APPROPRIATION: $282.839 - PURCHASE OF FIRE TRUCKS <br /> <br /> Mr. Hendrix stated that this appropriation would use <br />the remaining general revenue sharing funds. <br /> <br /> Mr. O'Connell stated that the $282,839 would be placed <br />in the City Equipment Replacement Program for the purchase <br />of fire trucks. Mr. O'Connell stated that one pumper needed <br />to be rebuilt, one pumper needed to be replaced, with a <br />second needing to be replaced within two years. A ladder <br /> <br /> <br />
