183 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION: PROVIDING FOR THE RENEWAL OF THE CITY MANAGER'S <br />EMPLOYMENT AGREEMENT <br /> <br /> On motion by Dr. Hall, seconded by Mr. Towe, the <br />resolution providing for the renewal of the City Manager's <br />employment agreement was unanimously approved by Council. <br /> <br /> BE IT RESOLVED by the council of the City of <br />Charlottesville, Virginia that the Employment Agreement <br />between the City Council and the City Manager, dated May 12, <br />1985, shall be renewed for an additional year beginning July <br />I, 1987. The Manager's annual base salary for such year shall <br />be $69,960.99. The Manager may elect to direct portions of <br />such salary to a deferred compensation account to the extent <br />permitted by federal and state income tax laws. All other <br />terms and conditions of the agreement on May 12, 1985 shall <br />remain in full force and effect. <br /> <br /> On motion by Mrs. G!eason, seconded by Mr. Barnes, <br />Council unanimously voted to meet in executive session to <br />discuss pending litigation as exempted by Section <br />2.1-344(a)(6) of the Virginia Freedom of Information Act. <br /> <br /> public <br /> President <br /> <br />Following executive session, Council reconvened to <br /> hearings with the Planning Commission. <br /> <br />COUNCIL CHAMBER - April 20, 1987 <br /> <br /> Council met in regular session on this date with the <br />following members present: Mr. Barnes, Mr. Buck, Mrs. <br />Gleason, Dr. Hall, Mr. Towe. <br /> <br />MINUTES <br /> <br /> On motion by Dr. Hall, seconded by Mr. Towe, the <br />minutes of April 6th were unanimously approved as presented. <br /> <br /> On motion by Mr. Towe, seconded by Mrs. Gleason, the <br />minutes of April 8th were unanimously approved as presented. <br /> <br /> On motion by Mr. Barnes, seconded by Dr. Hall, the <br />minutes of April 14th were unanimously approved as <br />presented. <br /> <br />PUBLIC <br /> <br /> Mr. Bruce Wordell, architect for the expansion of Sigma <br />Phil Fraternity at Virginia Avenue, requested that Council <br />consider the special permit authorizing the expansion of the <br />fraternity because of a tight construction schedule. <br /> <br /> It was the consensus of Council to consider the matter <br />at the May 4th meeting so that public notice could be given. <br /> <br />PRESENTATION: CHARLOTTESVILLE HIGH SCHOOL ORCHESTRA <br /> <br /> Members of the Charlottesville High SchoOl Orchestra <br />were introduced and congratulated for their accomplishments <br />during the school year. <br /> <br /> On motion by Mr. Barnes, seconded by Mrs. Gleason, <br />Council unanimously approved a resolution commending the <br />Charlottesville High School Orchestra. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Charlottesville High School Orchestra has <br />had an outstanding 1986-87 school year; and <br /> <br /> <br />
