189 <br /> <br />will be subject to.the City Manager's receipt of satisfactory <br />evidence from the Shelter for Help in Emergency that it has <br />available the requisite local matching funds for such grant. <br /> <br />RESOLUTION: ACCEPTING BIRDWOOD COURT IN CITY STREET SYSTEM <br /> <br /> Mr. Hendrix stated that when a privately owned street <br />is brought up to City standards, it must be formally <br />accepted by Council before becoming part of the City system. <br /> <br /> On motion by Mrs. Gleason, seconded by Mr. Barnes, the <br />resolution accepting Birdwood Court in the City street <br />system was unanimously approved by Council. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, RVC Corporation has completed construction of a <br />street 751 feet in length, designated as Birdwood Court on a <br />subdivision plat dated May 20, 1986, of record in the Clerk's <br />Office of the Circuit Court of the City of CHarlottesville in <br />Deed Book 484, page 853~ and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City Engineer has inspected the <br />construction of such street and the installation of water and <br />sanitary sewer mains therein, and has certified to the <br />Council that all such construction has been completed in <br />accordance with current City standards and regulations; now, <br />therefore, <br /> <br /> BE IT RESOLVED that the aforesaid Birdwood Court is <br /> hereby accepted into the City street system for maintenance <br /> purposes and that the aforesaid water and sanitary sewer <br /> mains are likewise accepted as part of the City utility <br /> system. <br /> <br />RESOLUTION: APPOINTING VIEWERS TO CONSIDER CLOSING AN ALLEY OFF <br />PRESTON AVENUE <br /> <br /> On motion by Dr. Hall, seconded bY Mrs. Gleason, the <br />resolution appointing viewers to consider closing an alley <br />off Preston Avenue was unanimously approved by Council. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, this Council-has received a petition from Baker <br />Realty Corporation Liquidating Trust requesting vacation of a <br />portion of an alley off Preston Avenue and running parallel <br />to Rose Hill Drive, adjacent to Parcels 76, 79, 82 and 83 on <br />City Real Property Tax Map 36~ <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, it appears to Council that the notice required <br />by Section 15.1,364 of the Code of Wirginia (1950), as <br />amended, has been duly advertised; now, therefore, <br /> <br /> BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of <br /> Charlottesville, Virginia that Ms. Mary Jane Haynes, Messrs. <br /> W. J. Copeland and H. P. Winn, Jr. report in writing to <br /> Council what inconvenience, if any, would result from such <br /> vacation. <br /> <br />RESOLUTION: APPROVING PAY PLAN <br /> <br /> Mr. Hendrix stated that the Pay Plan incorporates the <br /> pay proposal which was approved as part of the FY 87-88 <br /> budget and the Code.requires that~it be approved~separately <br /> each year. <br /> <br /> Responding to a question from Mr. Towe regarding the <br />amount of time it takes an employee to move through the <br />steps, Mr. Hendrix stated that employees move up an average <br />of one step a year° <br /> <br /> Mr. Hendrix stated that the Pay Plan was divided into <br />three groups: 1) the largest group would receive a 3.5% <br />adjustment on July 1st and w°uld be eligible for a merit of <br />between 0 and 7.5%~ 2) the middle group, consisting of <br />professional and supervisory employees, would receive an <br /> <br /> <br />
