Mr. Huja replied that this was the only area at this point that the Technical Committee felt warranted an independent study. Mr. Barnes requested that the specifics of the proposed study be provided to Council before the second reading of the appropriation. $10,0~n motion by Dr. Hall, seconded by Mrs. Gleason, the 0 appropriation for the City's share of the cost of a consultant.to study the southside of the City, with particular emphasis on the Fontaine Avenue entrance, was offered and carried over to the next meeting for consideration. Mr. Hendrix stated that an application had been made for a local tour guide and that it had been brought to his attention that a new law exists which states that a local government may require a tour guide appiicant to pass an examination showing his knowledge of the area. Mr. Hendrix questioned whether Council wanted to become involved in the matter. It was the consensus of Council to not require the examination. Mr. Towe thanked Mr. Buck and Mr. Barnes for their successful negotiations with Jefferson Cable in convincing them to return WWBT, Channel 12 to the air. A work session was scheduled for June 10th at 7:30 p.m. to discuss the space study and parking issues to be held jointly with the Planning Commission. MINUTES On motion by Mrs. Gleason, seconded by Mr. Towe, the minutes of MaY 18th were unanimously approved as presented. PUBLIC Mr. Buck stated that consideration of the sale of property on Preston Avenue and the closing of a portion of an alley off Preston would be deferred until the July 6th meeting at the request of the applicant. Ms. Charlotte Sherman of Field Road, urged Council to take action against the Lucky 7 store on Grady Avenue in order to restore the hours of operation which were in effect when the business was approved as a non-conforming use. Mr. Mike Terry, Coach of the Charlottesville High School Tennis Team, stated that the team had won the State Tennis Championship and he introduced members of the team.
