209 <br /> <br /> On motion by Mr. Barnes, seconded by Mrs. Gleason, <br />Council unanimously approved a resolution congratulating the <br />Charlottesville High School Tennis Team on their successful <br />season. · <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Charlottesville High School Tennis Team <br />ended their 1986-87 season with an impressive 14-4 record; <br />and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Charlottesville High School Tennis Team, <br />including Steven Wright, Phat Bui, Andrew Landow, Tjai <br />Nielsen, Patrick Kuland, David Kuland, Thomas Root, John <br />Holly~ Matthew Brown, Robert Magie!nicki, Edward Mendes, and <br />Mark Narita, under the leadership of Coach Michael Terry and <br />Manager Susan Stacy,.won the Valley District Tennis <br />Tournament on May 13th and the Region II Tennis Tournament <br />on May 21st~ and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Charlottesville High School Tennis Team <br />went on to win the State Tennis Tournament of AA Group <br />Schools on May 28th; <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of <br />Charlottesville, Virginia,would like to recognize the superb <br />efforts of the entire Charlottesville High School Tennis <br />Team and congratulate the team members on their outstanding <br />season. <br /> <br />APPOINTMENTS: BOARDS AND COMMISSIONS <br /> <br /> On motion by Mrs. Gleason, Ms. Peggy King was <br />unanimously reappointed to serve a two-year term as the <br />Federation of Neighborhood Association representative on the <br />Community Development Block Grant Task Force, Mr. Fran <br />Lawrence was unanimously reappointed and Mr. Blake Caravati <br />was appointed to serve two-year terms on the Community <br />Development Block Grant Task Force. These terms will expire <br />on March 7, 1989. <br /> <br /> On motion by Dr. Hall, Mr. David Carter was unanimously <br /> reappointed and Ms. Sadie Carter unanimously appointed to <br /> serve two-year terms on the~Jefferson Area Board for Aging. <br /> These terms will expire on April 1, 1989. <br /> <br /> On motion by Mr. Barnes, Ms. Blair Carter was <br /> unanimously appointed to serve a three-year term on the <br /> Personnel Appeals Board. This term will expire on May 30, <br /> 1990. <br /> <br /> On motion by Mr. Towe, Mro James Noland was unanimously <br /> reappointed to serve a two-year term on the Community <br /> Corrections Resources Board. This term will expire on <br /> December 31, 1988. <br /> <br />APPROPRIATION: $7,000 - CASA ITALIANA EXCHANGE PROGRAM' <br />(2nd reading) <br /> <br /> The $7,000 appropriation for the CASA Italiana Exchange <br />Program which was offered at the May 18th meeting, was <br />approved by the following vote. Ayes: Mr. Barnes, Mrs. <br />Gleason, Dr. Hall, Mr. Towe. Noes: None. Abstaining: Mr. <br />Buck. <br /> <br /> BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of <br />Charlottesville, Virginia, that the sum of ~7,000 is hereby <br />appropriated from the unappropriated balance of the General <br />Fund to expenditure account 01-92490 as the City's share of <br />the cost of the exchange of visits between high school <br />students from Charlottesville and Albemarle County and <br />students from Prato and Poggio a Caiano, Italy during the <br />summer of 1987. Such appropriation shall be made for the <br />current fiscal year, but any-balance unexPended on June 30, <br />1987 shall be carried over for expenditure in the fiscal <br /> <br /> <br />
