214 <br /> <br />Council unanimously voted to meet in executive session to <br />discuss matters of personnel as exempted by Section 2.1-344 <br />(a)(1), (2), and (6) of the Virginia Freedom of Information <br />Act. <br /> <br /> School Board inteviews were scheduled to be held on <br /> July 17th and 18th. <br />~meeting was adjourned. <br /> President -- ~~ <br /> <br />NOTICE OF SPECIAL MEETING <br /> <br />A SPECIAL MEETING OF THE COUNCIL WILL BE HELD ON Wednesday, <br />June 10, 1987 AT 7:10 p.m. IN THE City Manager's Office <br />(7:10) Basement Conference Room (7:30) <br /> <br />THE PROPOSED AGENDA IS AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />7:10 p.m. <br /> <br />Executive session to discuss personnel matters as <br />exempted by Section 2.1-344(a)(1) of the Virginia <br />Freedom of Information Act (School Board <br />interviews). <br /> <br />7:30 p.m. <br /> <br />wOrk session with Planning Commission to discuss <br />the following: <br /> <br />City Hall Space Study and Recommendations <br /> <br />Parking Recommendations <br /> <br />Resolution appointing viewers to consider closing <br />a portion of an alley off Lexington Avenue <br /> <br />BY ORDER OF THE MAYOR <br /> <br />BY Jeanne Cox (signed) <br /> <br />CITY MANAGER'S OFFICE - June 10, 1987 <br /> <br /> Council met in special session on this date with the <br />following members present: Mr. Barnes, Mr. Buck, Mrs. <br />Gleason, Dr. Hall, Mr. Towe. <br /> <br /> On motion by Mrs. Gleason, seconded by Mr. Barnes, <br />Council unanimously voted to meet in executive session to <br />discuss personnel matters as exempted by Section 2.1-344 <br />(a)(1) of the Virginia Freedom of Information Act (School <br />Board interviews). <br /> <br /> Council reconvened in open session in thebasement <br />conference room. <br /> <br />WORK SESSION: CITY HALL SPACE STUDY AND RECOMMENDATIONS <br /> <br /> Mr. Gary O'Connell, Deputy City Manager, stated that <br />space problems exist in City Hall, the courts, and schools <br />and that a four-phased project was being proposed. Mr. <br />O'Connell noted that the first two phases of the project <br />(construction of a new City administration building and <br />initial funds for the renovation of the current City Hall <br />complex) had been included in the Five-Year Capital <br />Improvements Plan. <br /> <br /> Mr. Steve Wright and Mr. Dick Shank, architects who had <br />participated in the City Hall Space Study and had prepared <br />the proposed plans, showed a slide presentation of the <br />current crowded conditions in City Hall and the proposed <br />construction and renovation. <br /> <br /> <br />
