257 <br /> <br />fiscal agent. <br /> <br /> Responding to a question from Mr. Towe, Mr. Hendrix <br />stated that the employees hired to operate the Perinatal <br />Nutrition and Education Program are City employees because of <br />the hiring freeze which exists at the Health Department, <br />though the Health Department hires and supervises the <br />employees. <br /> <br /> On motion by Mr. Barnes, seconded by MrS. Gleason, the <br />$55,000 appropriation.for Perinatal Nutrition and Educational <br />Services was offered and carried over to the next meeting for <br />consideration. <br /> <br />APPROPRIATION: $7,406 - PLANNING COMMISSION COMPENSATION <br /> <br /> Mr. Hendrix stated that this appropriation would provide <br />compensation for the Planning Commission for the current <br />fiscal year. <br /> <br /> On motion by Mrs. Gleason, seconded by Mr. Towe, the <br />$7,406 appropriation for Planning Commission compensation was <br />offered and carried over to the next meeting for <br />consideration. <br /> <br />RESOLUTION: APPOINTING VIEWERS TO CONSIDER CLOSING A PORTION OF <br />RAILROAD AVENUE <br /> <br /> Mr. Hendrix stated that the legal ad had not been <br />properly run and the viewers needed to be reappointed. <br /> <br /> On motion by Mrs. Gleason, seconded by Mr. Barnes, the <br />resolution appointing viewers to consider closing a portion <br />of Railroad Avenue was unanimously approved by Council. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, this Council has received a petition from <br /> James Harvey Miller, David Y. Miller, Pauline M. Leake and <br /> Earl C. Leake requesting vacation of a portion of Railroad <br /> Avenue adjacent to Parcels 1 and 2 on City Real Property Tax <br />· Map 21; <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, it appears to CounCil that the notice required <br />by Section 15.1-364 of the Code of Virginia (1950), as <br />amended, has been duly advertised; now, therefore, <br /> <br /> BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of <br />Charlottesville, Virginia that Ms. Mary Jane Haynes, Messrs. <br />W. J. Copeland and H. P. Winn, Jr. report in writing to <br />Council what inconvenience, if any, would result from such <br />vacation. <br /> <br />RESOLUTION: APPOINTING VIEWERS TO CONSIDER CLOSING A PORTION OF <br />AN ALLEY OFF EAST JEFFERSON STREET <br /> <br /> On motion by Mr. Barnes, seconded by Mr. Towe, the <br />resolution appointing viewers to consider closing a portion <br />of an alley off East Jefferson Street was unanimously <br />approved by Council° <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, this Council has received a petition from <br />Helen Bloch Barr and East Jefferson Street Associates <br />Limited Partnership requesting vacation of an alley off East <br />Jefferson Street adjacent to Parcels 298 and 299 on City <br />Real Property Tax Map 53; <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, it appears to Council that the nOtice required <br />by Section 15.1-364 of the Code of Virginia (1950), as <br />amended, has been duly advertised; now, therefore <br /> <br /> BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of <br />Charlottesville, Virginia that Ms. Mary Jane Haynes, Messrs. <br />W.
